It includes user researchers, user experience designers, visual designers, and print designers who collaborate to serve product and information design needs across the company. The Role
Morningstar is looking for an intermediate-level designer who is passionate about user experience and data visualization. We need a designer who loves the challenge of turning complex data into great communication design, translating usage patterns into intuitive interactions and workflows, and creating rewarding experiences for our client base of individual investors, financial advisors, institutional research analysts, planners, and financial services enterprises. User experience designers work with visual designers, user researchers, software developers, project managers, product managers, and business owners to develop the next generation of our web-based applications and assist in the critical evaluation and continuous improvement of existing ones.
Responsibilities
+ Help define user interaction models and user experience for new and existing products.
+ Sketch and present UX concepts and behaviors with paper sketches, wireframes, task/workflows, simple working prototypes, or whatever form best communicates your ideas.
+ Participate in user-centered research with customers through focus groups, usage analysis, and rapid prototyping.
+ Communicate UX design solutions to multiple development teams through prototypes, detailed specifications and similar types of communication documents.
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HCI, design, a related field, or equivalent experience.
+ At least 3-5 years of experience designing for software, web and/or digital products
+ Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills; self-directed, comfortable working independently, and able to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
+ Solid understanding of information architecture, web usability, and best-in-class user-experience design.
+ Demonstrated design skills, especially concerning information hierarchy and data visualization.
+ Knowledge of UX design methodology and practices.
+ Curiosity, a thirst to keep learning new technologies and methods, and a desire to build great products.
+ Ability to work with, and improve, routine processes.
+ Knowledge of Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, Microsoft Office Suite, and Mac OS X.
+ Knowledge of HTML and CSS is a plus.
