Position Description:
Lenovo is seeking a UX Research Intern to join our rapidly growing User
Experience Design team.
User experience is at the core of everything we do. In this role, you will
apply User-Centered Design principles to take on complex tasks to assess
products, form requirements, and develop experiences that promote good design
and industry-leading user experiences for Lenovo customers.
To achieve these goals, you will collaborate closely with other Researchers,
Designers, Developers, Engineers, and Product Managers throughout the design
process. From running research activities and interviewing users to analyzing
data and providing design direction, you’ll be an advocate for your users and
ensure our products surpass their expectations.
DESCRIPTION
• Identify user insights and lead new initiatives to deliver industry-leading
user experiences
• Understand user needs and discover other motivating factors to help teams
translate them into concepts, products, and solutions
• Help define, plan, and execute iterative user research activities spanning a
broad set of products (hardware and software) and involving multiple types of
concurrent user research including but not limited to generative work (e.g.
fieldwork, ethnography), evaluative work (e.g. usability studies, concept
evaluations, benchmarking, heuristic evaluations), to summative or validation
research (e.g. synthesizing data, inference analysis, classification,
clustering).
• Understand product roadmaps and be able to translate them into long-term and
short-term research plans
• Be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and will be able to thrive in
a resource-constrained environment
• Utilize ideation and storytelling skills to effectively communicate research
insights and ideas
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional project team members and business
peers to propose the best experience for our end-users
• Educate others outside the User Experience Design team on UX design
methodologies and advocate the benefits of good UX design. Think creatively
and strategically about the end-to-end customer experience and encourage a
designed way of thinking in the group.
• Establish a technical vitality plan to remain current in fields of user
experience, user research, visual design, and product design
• Communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms with colleagues,
management, and external parties both in the U.S. and other countries
#### Position Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS:
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in User Experience Research, Human
Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, HCI/Computer Science,
or other equivalent fields
• At least 1 year of experience in UX research, conceptual thinking, creative
problem solving, and deliverables (e.g. study plans, reports, and data
visualization).
PREFERRED:
• Knowledge of various qualitative and quantitative research methods and
techniques (e.g. interviews, ethnography, grounded theory, descriptive and
inferential stats, classification, clustering, mixture modeling, sequential
analysis, etc.)
• Strong analytical and synthesis skills with proven ability to turn research
results into product insights and design directions
• Familiarity and experience executing a user-centered design (UCD) driven
product (or concept) through a development process
• Detail-oriented with the ability to be pragmatic and keep the ‘big picture’
in mind
• Self-motivated and execution-orientated with the ability to work
independently as well as take direction within established strategic and
business guidelines
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and international
multidisciplinary team environment
• Strong presentation, negotiation, and communication skills
• Experience working with technologies such as PCs, AR/VR, IoT, Collaboration,
AI, etc.
• A healthy mix of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
• UX research experience in non-US markets
