Uniform Attendant
The Uniform Room Attendant is responsible for issuing and maintaining employee garment bags and the receipt of soiled uniforms. They also restore clean uniforms to the appropriate garment bags.
Essential job Functions:
- Attend to employee uniform requirement needs and/or alteration instructions
- Receive all soiled uniforms from employees and process the same through the bar coding system
- Receive and account for all clean uniforms from the cleaning company and process the same through the bar coding system
- Restore clean uniforms to the appropriate employee garment bag
- Issue garment bags from the conveyor system to the employees
- Restore garment bags to the appropriate conveyor system slot
- Ensure uniform log sheets for new staff and terminated employees are completed, signed and forwarded to Human Resources
- Daily control of uniforms for condition and needed repairs, ensure that uniforms meet hotel standards
- Assist with uniform inventory
- Identify and separate damaged uniforms. Worn or damaged uniforms beyond repair are replaced with new uniforms
- Conduct quarterly cleaning of employee garment bags
- Maintain a clean work area at all times
- Maintain equipment and tools according to manufacturers instructions
- Manager to be notified of discrepancies , damages and unsatisfactory cleaning
- Perform other related duties as required and requested by supervisor
- Adhere to Fairmont grooming standards at all times
- Comply with all hotel and departmental standards, policies and procedures
- Observe health and safety guidelines at all times
- Wear safety equipment and/or protection if required
Knowledge, skills, ability
- Knowledge of sewing and altering methods
- Ability to appropriately use all equipment and materials needed to perform tasks
- Ability to perform all above mentioned general and specific job duties
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, co-workers and manager
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
- Ability to approach all encounters with guests and employees in a professional manner
- Ability to follow directions and listen carefully
Physical requirements:
- Lifting of moderately heavy equipment up to 50 pounds
- Bending, reaching. stretching , kneeling , stooping
- Prolonged standing and walking
