Position Title: Learning Facilitator
Unit / Division: English Language Department/China Teaching Department
Locations: Qinghuangdao

The Learning Facilitators will report to the relevant Online Foreign Teacher and where necessary Branch Managers and/or the Chinese Teaching Department.

Role Responsibilities
The online teacher will deliver the prescribed lessons as per the curriculum documents.

The Learning Facilitator will:
1.Be in the classroom 10 minutes prior to class commencing. Check whether all IT equipment is working. If the FT is not online by class start time, advise the nominated Branch person immediately who will follow up. The LF should then start the class by going through the pre class activities.
2.Take student attendance; follow up if any student is not in class. If and where necessary, help the student/s to catch up on what work they missed.
3.Ensure students arrive on time, do not leave the classroom except during break times and students do not l leave before the final lesson bell.  
4.Monitor student participation in group activities as directed by the Online Foreign Teacher.
5.If an “in class” test is being held ensure there is no collaboration between students.
6.The LF may be asked to deliver a lesson/s that will be supervised by the online teacher.
7.Working under the Online teacher’s direction go around the students in the classroom ensuring they are doing the work given by the online teacher, answer any questions the students may and ensure student’s sufficient understanding of the task to complete the work.
8.Encourage students to ask questions either of the online teacher. 
9.Assist the teacher in the formation of groups during the lesson; monitor the group work to ensure students are saying “on topic” and not on their phones.
10.Prepare and distribute any support materials required in class.
11.Assist the Teacher with rescheduling classes that were missed due to a public holiday.
12.Assist the Teacher with the marking of MOS and EOS – clerical marking only.

Skills and Attributes

Learning Facilitators will generally have the following attributes:
Experience in interacting and facilitating discussion with students in a classroom.
Familiar with the online teaching environment.
Willingness to work as part of a team.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Sufficient IT literacy to assist students in online activities.
An understanding of the importance of the CAPS program and transfer to an overseas partner University.
All Learning Facilitators will be required to attend professional development activities on a regular basis to enhance the above skills.

Requirements:
Bachelor degree or above
Fluent English speaker
Clear background check
EAP teaching experience preferred.
