Position - EAP (English for Academic Purposes) Oral English Courses
City: Shaoxing, China
Age Group: English major sophomore students.
Sept of 2023.
Salary: open to negotitae depending on experience.
Accomodation: Teacher Apartment (unshared) on campus
Maximum of 20 Teaching periods per week . Minimum of 1 student assessment per week.
Must use the textbooks. The majority of students speak good English.Faculty and student policies are all in place and active.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching: A maximum of 20 teaching hours per week (1 teaching hour = 45min). All teaching materials, including textbooks, teaching notes and slides are provided.
Assessments: mark students’ work, assessments and write individual feedback to students for all their assessments.
Meetings: small-group lesson planning meetings weekly or biweekly, standardization meetings (4-5 each semester), all-teacher meeting (2-4 each semester) and others deemed necessary.
Inter-department collaboration: liaise and collaborate with other departments, such as the academic office and student affairs office when necessary. This may include admin work such as course coordination, documents proofreading and admission support, etc.
All candidates are required to complete teaching and marking meeting standards set by both and strictly follow rules and regulations regarding teaching and class arrangements.
Requirements (Qualifications, skills and experience)
Essential
Undergraduate degree
Cambridge CELTA/Trinity Cert TESOL or equivalent qualification containing observed and assessed teaching practice*
Ideally 2 years’ experience of teaching and assessing English language level at B1 or above
Excellent organizational, communication and inter-personal skills
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to lead and work well in teams
Willingness to work flexibly to meet the needs of the programme
Desirable
Diploma level TESOL qualification (Cambridge Delta/Trinity Diploma in TESOL or equivalent) *
Masters in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, ELT or other relevant discipline*
Previous experience of teaching EAP and/or IELTS.
IELTS (or other international test) teaching and/or examiner experience
Experience of teaching in a Higher Education setting
Experience of teaching and assessing undergraduate/foundation students in an East Asia/Southeast Asia university environment
Experience of teaching English for STEM (particularly engineering)
Ability to use ICT effectively including use of a virtual learning environment (e.g. Moodle) and the ability to teach online.
