Utility Operator/Material Handler

What will you do?

  • Manages systems/procedures for inventory, stages materials for production needs
  • Moves finished product through warehouse airlock and into bulk storage areas for packaging; moving batches and associated materials to proper staging areas; placing bulk material for compression on mezzanine; removing empty hoppers, bins, cone-n-cones from compressing mezzanine for cleaning; staging equipment and various components for processing; maintaining flow of product and material to keep hallways clear. 
  • Performs cleaning and set-up tasks as required, including periodic mopping and wipe down of granulation/compressing/coating common areas. 
  • Uses basic hand tools
  • Assists with troubleshooting of equipment and process issues
  • Maintains accurate, neat, error free records such as batch records and logbooks
  • Accurately follows production documents, standard operating procedures (SOP's) and current good manufacturing practices (cGMPs)
  • Monitors operations for deviations, quality risk, or mechanical problems and elevates issues as needed
  • Identifies safety, quality, and efficiency improvements and actively participates in learning organization development
  • Maintains a neat work area and follows department safety rules
  • Performs duties in other work areas as required.

Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Manufacturing Operations experience (GMP facility preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Experience in pharmaceutical production preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools.
  • Basic reading comprehension and math skills necessary to follow complex technical instructions
  • Good communication skills and ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manipulate/flip totes weighing up to 70 kg and lift containers weighing up to 22 kg.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Job requires wearing personal protective equipment to include white zone gowning requirements and various styles of respirators (1/2 face, 3-M hood, full face, and dust mask).
  • Ability to utilize a stand up fork lift and walkie stacker
