Eaton’s Commercial and Residential Distribution Solutions (CRDS) Division is currently seeking a V2X Infrastructure System Architect to join our team. This position can be based at our Peachtree City, GA facility or can be based remotely from a US home office. Relocation assistance will be offered to Peachtree City. Position Overview: The CRDS Division – Connected Solutions Group is expanding its portfolio of Bidirectional Vehicle Charging Systems in the North American region and we’re looking for experienced talent who can help lead the architecture development, design, testing, system integration and certification of our expanding Vehicle to Everything (V2X) solutions. The V2X team develops electronic hardware, firmware, software, APIs, electrical systems designed to interface with Vehicle OEMs, Electric Utilities, and home and site owners. The V2X System Architect works with the engineering, marketing, customers, sales and business development teams to conceptualize the application and integration of Eaton’s V2X solutions as part of Eaton’s and our customer’s systems. This individual will act as a bridge between external and internal technical team, and third-party technology providers by bringing together integrated electric components in the home which solve key customer problems. In this function you will: Develop EV V2X architectures and lead system integration including internal and external elements into comprehensive commercial solutions. Lead Eaton technical engagement with target Vehicle OEMs, Electric Utilities, and customers for outcomes, consultative and solution opportunities. Be able to articulate the Eaton V2X solutions to product teams as well as senior technical operations teams. Engage key influencers to gain voice of customer for future product/technology roadmaps and applications, while developing commercial strategies. Participate in development, testing and certification for architecture elements of Eaton’s V2X systems. Provide pre-sales technical support for customers: work with internal Eaton teams and third-party technology providers to identify customer business challenges, facilitate requirements gathering sessions, architecture presentations, product feature descriptions and value propositions, and software solution demos – effectively, creating an alignment across the V2X value-chain. Work with the technical sales consultants, business development managers and proposals team within the region, to develop optimal V2X charger infra-structure solution for key stakeholders: Respond to technical RFP documents, put together solution requirements and design, system customization and configuration, align offerings and ultimately be the technical point of contact for maintaining the solution roadmap. Engage with Utilities and Vehicle OEMs to participate in pilot programs proving out concepts and refining technical requirements. Help Business Development Managers, North American Sales, and Channel partners with existing and new solution architecture and strategy, to bring in Eaton content and grow hardware & software revenue in the V2X space. Provides technical and sales consulting, support for major account opportunities. Stay current with latest technologies and regulatory standards in relation to utility demand management & DER integration as well as Electric Vehicle Charging. Participate in relevant codes and standard committees as needed. Work closely with Eaton’s core engineering faculties (Electrical, Mechanical and Software) to synchronize product design and manufacturing efforts with established and new system architectures. Identify & communicate risks related to the design, development, implementation, and support of the EV charger subsystems and/or its integration with other systems/subsystems; works with the team to prioritize, develop, and execute mitigations & contingency plans. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic, Computer Engineering/Technology, Software Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited institution Minimum of 3 years of experience in developing and deploying platforms of cloud connected, scalable and reliable system architectures for IoT products, power management products, back-up generators, and/or EV chargers. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering/Technology from an accredited institution 5+ years of system level design experience; developing and translating business use cases to solution requirements and architecture documentation. Experience with deploying products into residential power systems Experience with consumer facing electronics and/or software interfaces. Experience working with Utility programs and communication a plus Experience working with EVSE/vehicle communications a plus Experience in development & deployment of DER (distributed energy resource) systems, back-up power systems, microgrid systems, EV Charging Position Criteria: Ability to teach technical plus product concepts and to convey complex topics appropriately tailored to the audience type Knowledge of security concepts such as encryption, certificates, and key management, penetration testing and software code compliance Thorough understanding of the product development process with the ability to balance/manage commercial expectations and project timelines Strong engagement with associated product standard bodies such as SAE, UL, IEC & NEC Ability to clearly communicate internally and externally.
