Summary

The General Manager leads the China operations and acts with the highest level of integrity to support the business, develop people, working safely, delivering high quality and compliance while optimizing cost and asset utilization, and ensuring reliable product supply from the SASS Manufacturing operations located in Minhang. Direct responsibility for over 500 employees. Responsible to develop and execute site strategy aligned with long term financial plans for future volume requirements to the China market.

Responsibilities

The GM is a member of the BMS China Board of Directors, The GM has responsibility for supply of fully imported drug products from the GPS network into China through BMS Shanghai Trading Company. The GM is appointed as Company Quality Responsible Person for SASS by delegation of the Chairman. The GM is a member of the Merck Serono Joint Steering Committee and Merck Serono S&OP Committee, given the critical manufacturing and contract supply relationship for Glucophage. The GM has a number of stakeholders. Although the position reports to GPS, there is a close matrix relationship with the China Commercial Lead and operations are financially managed at the local China level. In addition, the SASS manufacturing facility is part of a Joint Venture relationship, and requires strong stakeholder management to ensure obligations are met.

Qualifications

This position must comply with all Financial and Security guidelines, Environmental Health and Safety regulations and the current Good Manufacturing Practices required by the job function.
Directly oversees Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Environmental Operations, Safety, Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing Science & Technology, Operational Excellence and PMO. Dotted line responsibility for QC/QA, Procurement, Finance, Human Resources, and IT.

Drives performance improvement in all areas to ensure optimum site performance.
Develops and executes budgets, operational plans and strategies for the short and long term consistent with corporate objectives and business needs.
Manages relationships with BMS partner companies and suppliers and customers.
Ensures an optimally organized management structure which is staffed by dedicated and motivated professionals.
Lead operations in BMSP wuxi site by delegation of BMS China VP and President.
