• Develops and oversees a strong leadership team across the functional disciplines of the organization.
• Creates and executes strategic operating plans for China
• Drives operational delivery and excellence within multifunctional operations.
• Provides thought leadership and input to all country specific business units, strategy formulation and execution, infrastructure development, talent management and commercial management.

• Develops and executes aggressive sales strategies in collaboration with commercial leadership team that drive commercial excellence and achievement of business growth and market share.
• Supports business development via engagement with local clients and demonstrating industry leadership in China.
• Serves as main point of escalation for in-country clients and issue resolution. Supports strategic objectives to create a competitive advantage in China in prioritized market segments.

• Ensures financial profitability and growth of PPD in China and is accountable for overall business performance and achievement of growth objectives during a pivotal stage of industry growth.

Qualifications and Experience:

• The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD, MD) preferred.
• 15+ years of progressively responsible experience leading operations to include direct experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or CRO for a company with a global footprint; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Visionary leader with demonstrated track record of success operating in China with global leadership outside of China.
• Strong commercial acumen with ability to develop and execute aggressive sales strategies that achieve business growth and market share.
• Thorough understanding of cross-functional clinical processes including extensive knowledge of clinical trial operations and management.
• Demonstrated strategic planning experience and strong P&L management.
• Strong organizational agility, drive for results, cultural awareness and expertise in networking and building effective global relationships internally and externally.
• High level of regulatory knowledge required to sustain and grow business within established industry guidelines and requirements.
• Excellent communication skills including strong fluency in Mandarin and English.
• Strong negotiation, influencing and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand client needs and future insights translating them into PPD business revenue and deliverables.
