TitleVP, Pharmacology

The VP of pharmacology is responsible for scientific leadership of pre-clinical models of pharmacology and will lead a team to provide in vivo expertise and study execution as part of pharmacology project teams. This role will be responsible for developing and promoting appropriate in vivo models and protocols as well as managing all internal and external in vivo studies. Critical to success in this role is a strong customer orientation, exceptional communication, and collaborative skills to meet the demands of a diverse and dynamic set of stakeholders. Also essential will be demonstrated skill in setting a strong research strategy in alignment with portfolio demands and translating that strategy into robust executable plans. Therefore, in addition to established scientific strength, the successful candidate must have a proven track record of operational excellence within a medium, complex research program.

Requirements

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide strategic, managerial, and scientific leadership in the area, but not limited to molecular biology, cell biology and biochemistry, of Pharmacology.
  • Be responsible for developing strategy and implementation of new technology and other functional activities, and ultimately responsible for the quality of the work and its interpretation.
  • Be responsible for coordination of functional area in the context of matrix project team environment.
  • Establish pharmacology business goals, timelines, and deliverables, and further develop a growing preclinical pharmacology group into a highly-functional team
  • Directly supervise senior study directors for routine operations, including external studies, taking on study director role and be responsible for all duties involved in external studies assigned.
  • Actively involved in communication with internal stakeholders and external interaction with collaborator.
  • Take important R&D leadership responsibilities of pharmacology, particularly in initiatives in new model development areas. This could involve propose new scientific initiative, R&D planning, experimental design, analysis and reporting.
  • Lead a team and have responsibility to manage, mentor or train senior and junior scientists.
  • Actively involved in scientific presentation and business development.
  • Stay abreast of latest scientific and technology advancements in the field.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. with a specialty in pre-clinical in vivo pharmacology research.
  • Strong background in in vivo pharmacology models is critical. Minimum 5 years of work experience, preferably in the biopharmaceutical industrial setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide groups through corporate change and growth.
  • Interactive and collaborative approach; expert influence and conflict resolution skills are preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to relate information concisely at a strategic level.
  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent oral presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate and apply concepts of recent R&D strategic scientific and operational initiatives.
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills, and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to be a team player.
  • Very good skills in writing and speaking both in Chinese and English.
  • 3 years experience in a CRO company is preferred.
