The Transformation Team works side-by-side with the AbbVie executive team on many of the most pressing issues facing the organization to drive implementation of transformational efforts across our pipeline. Guidance from this team will have a direct impact on the future success of AbbVie. To enable AbbVie’s emergence as a World Class organization, the VP Transformation, plays a leadership role to optimize the value of our portfolio of current and future assets. VP Transformation is responsible for leading multiple complex transformations in parallel. They will directly guide multiple Sr. Director and Director led teams to ensure that our transformations deliver on their goals. These transformations impact different functions across the organization, most recently in Regulatory Affairs, Dev. Sciences, and Early Oncology. They include new operating models and capability building for clinical development of high priority assets. Achieving these goals requires a combination of excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills to drive alignment in complex situations, broad strategic thinking, and an ability to build and lead a high performing team. Responsibilities: Lead high-profile, complex transformations across the R&D organization in partnership with executive level stakeholders to bring innovative medicines to patients The VP role would be expected to lead 2-3 Transformations in parallel. Each would be in partnership with a fellow VP partner who act as co-leads to ensure functional buy-in and maximize implementation success. The initial focus areas will be Dev Sci top quartile Mabs with VP Shuhong Zhang, Submission Excellence with VP Roopal Thakkar, and Oncology Early Development (OED) with VP Mo Trikha. Translate strategic vision into action by evaluating and managing the implementation of large transformations within a complex matrixed organization to ensure projects are meeting or exceeding expectations. Partner with other VP and executive level stakeholders, acting as a thought-partner and driving alignment on key business decisions that impact the current and future state of AbbVie. Lead a team of direct reports and create an inclusive environment for team success. Bring together strategic, operational, and evidence-based support to lead and create opportunities for sustained ops excellence across functional areas. Bring rigorous conceptual and analytical thinking to answer key R&D questions for AbbVie leveraging internal and external intelligence and resources as required. Qualifications Bachelors or equivalent degree required Advanced degree (PhD, MD, MBA) highly preferred. Experience across multiple competitive, fast paced environments E.g., pharmaceutical R&D, manufacturing, commercial operations and/or strategy consulting. Minimum level of experience - 12+ with Bachelors, 10+ with Masters and 8+ with PhD. Experience leading large projects within a complex matrixed organization as a consultant to a pharmaceutical organization, either as an external consultant or an internal cross-functional lead. Recognized team leader with proven facilitative leadership skills in a cross-functional global team environment. Demonstrated ability to present data and metrics to executive leadership teams that will lead to better business outcomes. Proven performance in a matrix environment with ability to influence and align stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to interact externally and internally to support business strategy. Strong analytical skills. Recognized ability to evaluate complex issues from multiple perspectives to ensure that balanced risk assessments are made.
