Join Eaton’s Information Technology team and help positively impact our business through leading technologies, exciting and challenging enterprise projects and new platforms. We are currently seeking a Chief Enterprise Architect to join our Architecture, Governance, Security Center of Excellence (AGSCOE). The Chief Enterprise Architect focuses on understanding and applying existing, new and emerging technologies to transform and optimize business and operating models. In this role you will be responsible for helping business leaders enable future-state business capabilities that, in turn, drive the organization’s targeted business outcomes by guiding and governing the choice of technologies and technology initiatives the organization chooses to invest in. Your charter includes helping the organization grow revenue, drive digital transformation, optimizing costs and mitigating risks. As the Chief Enterprise Architect you will lead, prioritize and develop the overall enterprise architecture approach for the organization, and communicate architectural direction. You will have a purview into (and may directly manage) other architecture-related activities and the respective roles (such as business, information, solution and technical architecture decisions). Reporting to this role are a team of centralized enterprise architects, the federated architecture program, and other IT Governance-related functions such as IT Risk, IT Service Management and IT Learning. In this role: You will manage the architecture practice – Leads the creation and maturing of the enterprise architecture practice into an internal management consultancy. Plans and manages a talent pool of domain architects that works with EA and non-EA related disciplines to deliver the goals, objectives and outcomes of the organization. You will formulate strategy and guide execution - Constructs technology-enabled business and operating models and provides viable options and visibility into execution issues. You will enable business strategy - Assesses disruptive forces impacting the organization and identifies technology-enabled innovation opportunities that enables business strategy. Contextualizes technology trends based on social, economic, political and other nontechnology trends. You will build and maintain relationships - Builds the architecture practice to become an internal management consultancy, offering services and skills to support the development and execution of business strategy. Develops a portfolio of consulting services, designed to meet business and stakeholder needs, and delivers in an agile and time-boxed way. You will orchestrate the delivery of business outcomes - Develops diagnostic and actionable deliverables that help business guide investment decisions in support of executing business strategy. Leads analysis of the business’ future-state capabilities and future (and current) IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement to drive the business forward. You will plan and manage the architecture portfolio - Develops and applies standards and minimal viable architectures through the EA governance model. Collaborates with infrastructure and project teams to ensure consistency with the enterprise architecture, as well as to identify when it is necessary to modify the enterprise architecture. Oversees continuous improvement and ongoing refinement of architecture practices. Oversees the documentation of all architecture design and analysis work. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE: Broad knowledge of IT and OT technologies Knowledge of business ecosystems, manufacturing and financial applications, on-premise / software as a service / platform as a service operating models, SOA, APIs, analytics, data and event driven architectures, IT/OT Familiarity with strategic planning, information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, agile and lean methodologies, infrastructure and operations, EA and ITIL frameworks, cybersecurity, data modeling, cost-benefit analysis, risk management and budgeting Excellent analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple projects under strict timelines, as well as the ability to work well in a demanding, dynamic environment and meet overall objectives Program management, financial/budget management, scheduling and resource management skills SOFT SKILLS: Strong leadership skills Thinks and acts strategically; a forward thinker who demonstrates thought leadership Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation Able to articulate new ideas and concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences Excellent planning and organizational skills Organizationally savvy; understands the political climate of the enterprise and how to navigate obstacles and politics Balances the long-term and short-term implications of individual decisions and organizational objectives Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution Minimum of 10 years of business experience in strategic and operations planning and/or business analysis. Minimum 10 years of experience in at least three disciplines, such as business, information, solution or technical architecture, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management or operations in a multitier environment. Authorized to work in the US on a continuous basis without company sponsorship Master’s degree preferred The candidate can be based at any Eaton facility in the US. If the candidate resides within 50 miles of Beachwood, Ohio, the candidate must work at that site. If the candidate resides more than 50 miles away from Beachwood, Ohio, the candidate will work from a remote Eaton facility or an approved home office. Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary range for this role is $220,000- $300,000 a year, with flexibility based on experience and skill level. Additional compensation includes an annual performance - based incentive plan with a target of 35% of base salary + you will be eligible for a long term incentive opportunity consistent with those who are at a similar level of responsibility within the Company.
