VP Engineering

BCGDV is working on a new digital offering of a medtech healthcare company’s digital innovation business unit. This business unit focused on creating new digital products and platforms that transform the lives of patients.
The first venture of this digital business unit is an app and data platform that will transform the lives of patients with neurological diseases, empowering them to better understand their condition, have better conversations with their doctor and ultimately achieve better health outcomes.
The business has plans to grow aggressively and independently to capture a majority market share, with an initial focus in the US market. The business will scale to 15-20 people by 2021, and be based in London, England, with some international travel.
We are looking for a VP of Engineering that can work closely with internal customers and stakeholders across leadership, product, design and engineering cohorts to set and deliver on a technical strategy that supports and accelerates the ventures.
You will be:
- Working closely with a cross functional product, design and strategy team define and communicate the product and technical vision.
- Leading, mentoring and coaching lead engineers and the broader engineering team to convert product vision into a scalable, well executed platform - including writing code if necessary.
- Responsible for ongoing engineering recruitment. This includes defining the future team composition and overseeing the hiring processes.
- Engaging and communicating with internal stakeholders including the general manager and board.
You will have:
- Have previous experience in a VP-level engineering role where you scaled a technical team from 5 to 25+ engineers successfully - ideally in the healthcare sector.
- Have exceptional communication skills and proven ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- You can code, but know when not to code.
- Have experience with architecting technical systems that span web, iOS and Android mobile and wearable apps, backend API and data science pipelines.
- Have strong people skills that contribute to an open and collaborative environment.
- Can lead in Agile, Lean and Continuous Delivery approaches, such as Continuous Integration, TDD, Infrastructure as Code etc.
