VPS/Industrial Engineering Co-op (Spring 2022)

Job Description

This is a Co-Op position which requires three alternating rotations (e. g. 1st rotation: Spring, 2nd rotation: Fall, 3rd rotation: Summer).

The main objectives for this term revolve around assisting the department with the daily operations of managing VPS initiatives and driving continuous improvement, 6S, and problem solving within the Body Shop.

The qualified co-op should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:

  • Support implementation and roll-out of new initiatives, projects, program, and vehicle launches.
  • Data analysis and report generations for department management.
  • Support Industrial Engineering time studies and production analysis workshops.
  • Assist with Training Classes.
  • Create new templates for VPS, 6S, IE, and the BMW Work Organization as required and/or requested.
  • Participate in time studies and workstation layout.
  • Participate in creating standard operating sheets for production station processes.
  • Support or lead other projects as needed to support production.

  • Engineering Degree (IE preferred).
  • MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
  • Problem Solving skills.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Project leadership skills.
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
  • Have full-time status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
  • Ability to complete 3 alternating work terms for Co-op positions. 
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours / week).
  • Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
  • Must Attach an unofficial transcript upon applying 
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term. 
  • The work term dates for this position are January 3 2022 through May 6 2022
