Job Description
Eaton’s Electrical Division is currently seeking a Value Add/Value Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Cleveland, TN facility. Position Overview: The Value Add / Value Engineer (VA/VE) is responsible for administration and implementation of VA/VE programs, and implementation in support of the goals established for the Cleveland TN Manufacturing Facility’s development and production of high-quality products. In this function you will: Perform all operations using the highest safety and hygiene standards, electrical practices and established procedures. Maintain a clean, orderly and safe workplace. Participate as a key member on VA/VE programs that contribute $250k annualized savings to Eaton, or lead VA/VE programs that contribute $150k in annualized savings to Eaton. Lead multi-year cost out projects. Lead plant cost-out meetings and track plant cost-out metrics. Lead initiatives to improve the VA/VE process in the plant. Leverage division and corporate VA/VE resources to maximize savings with multi-plant initiatives. Extract information from Mapics/SAP and Enovia systems and manipulate data using software tools to determine opportunities for savings. Create and maintain a list of potential VA/VE ideas with the potential savings and estimated resources to complete projects. Maintain financial savings plans with management direction on active projects. Create engineering change requests and bill of material change requests. Make drawing and BOM changes using Inventor software and implement the change using the Engineering Change Order process. Plan, schedule, and perform product testing associated with VA/VE programs. Develop modifications to 3rd party procedures and submit the changes to approval. Complete witness tests for UL, CSA, and other certifying organizations. Become familiar with all industry standards, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, IEC, UL, & CSA, as necessary, to maintain 3rd party certifications Required travel to high power labs, like Belmont Labs, Belmont, NC or KEMA Labs, Chalfont, PA to perform engineering design tests, such as short circuit current and resistant tests. Researches, analyzes and helps specify purchases and equipment related to VA/VE activities. Work directly with design, OPEX teams, and suppliers to implement changes. Create and maintain reports on project progress (A4’s, 4-Up slides, PROLaunch) Report progress on projects to management and other project stakeholders through reports and presentations. Mentor others on engineering and VAVE strategies. Progress in Design for Six Sigma through the Greenbelt level. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Cleveland, TN will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Preferred qualifications: Proficient in Inventor 3D modeling software Strong verbal and written communication skills Design for Six Sigma Greenbelt Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Position Criteria: Strong business acumen Knowledge of basic electricity Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Ability to problem solve and analyze product application issues and drive them to root cause resolution. Ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously.
