YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Commercial Development Breeder Solanaceae, are: 

• Develop and manage the precommercial pipeline and work across functions and regions to execute the appropriate product system characterization strategy to achieve commercial portfolio targets and support the business plan;
• Lead the advancement of pre-commercial pipelines through product assessment and close collaboration with strategy, product design, analytics, planning, phenotyping, Product Supply, Product Management and Market Development;
• Develop and manage late stage pre-commercial pipeline aligned with commercial product concepts for the target markets;
• Develop and execute strategy related to product assessment, advancement, and adaptation to different growing environments;
• Provide leadership in pipeline modeling, environmental analyses, testing footprint optimization, data preparation, cleansing and QA of raw sources and design optimal visualization solutions;
• Collaborate and align product development strategy with Product Management, Product Supply, Market Development, and Sales Organizations in the target regions and environments;
• Collaborate to integrate data science throughout the breeding process to enable a cognitive decision-making workflow and drive automation of downstream operations;
• Execute the existing breeding strategy and drive development and implementation of new breeding and phenotyping strategies, digital capabilities and advancement and deployment strategies;
• Foster strong collaborative relationships with enabling teams and the commercial organization to deliver a robust pipeline and ensure meaningful knowledge transfer during pipeline hand-offs;
• Develop people by working closely with research station management to fully participate in staff development.

Required Qualifications:

• Master of Science with at least 10 years of relevant experience in Breeding, Agricultural Science, Genetics, Crop Science, or Product Management OR Ph.D. with at least six years of relevant experience;
• Strong background in plant breeding, quantitative genetics, experimental design, statistical analysis or digital phenotyping;
• Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams to achieve common goals;
• Demonstrated experience leading and influencing activities of cross functional teams without direct reporting relationships;
• Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities;
• Facilitates solutions;
• Results orientation with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously;
• Familiarity with data science and a demonstrated ability to perform data analysis with large datasets.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with automated phenotyping/remote sensing and the interpretation of imaging data;
• Experience in coding software such as "R", "Python", etc.
