Position Description

A vice president of sales establishes the sales targets to meet the company objectives with bottom up estimates. Responsible for developing strategic sales plans based on company goals that will promote sales growth and customer satisfaction for the organization.

 

He/she is also responsible for setting up the sales commission scheme, manages daily sales activity, meets with major client, prepare sales reports, designs new and more effective sales strategies, and works to market and promote company products and services.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up the sales commission scheme upon the approval from CEO
  • Manages, mentors and motivates the entire sales team
  • Presents to potential clients and update existing clients regarding our products and services.
  • Sets specific quarterly or annual sales goals.
  • Prepare and submit sales activity reports.
  • Responsible to meet the monthly sales goals.
  • Responsible for organizing and managing the national sales conferences.
  • Assists in designing marketing and promotional materials both in print and online.
  • Formulates and executes go-to-market and operational strategies in the sales department to achieve business objectives.
  • Assists with complex sales negotiations, attends sales presentations and helps close sales deals.
  • Develops sales proposals and responses to request for proposals (RFPs).
  • Develops documents and enforces sales policies, standard operating procedures and best practices.
  • Streamlines sales processes.
  • Bring in new clients.

Education and Experience

A vice president of sales holds, at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Marketing, or Engineering. The majority of individuals in this position also hold Master’s Degrees in Finance, Business, or Business Administration. A vice president of sales is also required to have several years of successful experience in the B2B software sales sector. Experience in FinTech and/or blockchain would be desirable.

 

Work Environment

A vice president of sales spends the majority of working hours in an office setting, either working independently or meeting with team members and corporate boards in a conference room. Local and national travel to meet clients and visit satellite offices is also required. The job of a vice president can be quite stressful due to the large amount of responsibility and accountability associated with the position, as well as the long hours required; most VPs work sixty to eighty hours per week.
