Join Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., and contribute to the corporate and industry-wide initiatives for developing advanced video codec. The successful candidates will be part of the video R&D team developing next generation video coding technologies. Offered positions range from engineer to senior staff level. Contribute to the conception, development, implementation and optimization of new algorithms allowing to further improve coding efficiency over state-of-the-art video codecs such as VVC. Considerable focus will be placed on compression of High Dynamic Range and Wide Color Gamut content as well as Virtual Reality and 6DoF video. Consider application of the latest advancements in Machine Learning to video compression. Champion the results of your work in the related standardization forums: JVET, MPEG Video and ITU-T/VCEG. Contribute to the implementation of HEVC and future video codecs such as VVC on mobile devices. Design encoder architecture, functional models and data structure for efficient hardware and software implementation. Develop encoder algorithms such as mode decision, motion estimation and rate control. Initiate ideas, design and implement algorithms for superior encoder performance, including perceptually based bit allocation with reasonable complexity and implementation cost. Participate in video codec prototyping on Qualcomm devices. Work closely with other cross-functional teams. 2+ years industry or academic experience required in one or more of the following areas:
Digital signal processing and information theory, familiarity with latest machine learning technology a bonus.
Record of innovation: granted patents in the area of video or image coding, processing, , publications.

PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science preferred. Knowledge of multimedia compression and the relevant formats such as H.265/HEVC, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. Proficiency in C++ and/or C programming, experience with SIMD and code optimization preferred. Experience modelling for ASIC design and verification.
