Job Description

The Video Program Officer will report to the Video and Multimedia Producer in University Marketing and Communication Office (UMC) and collaborate closely with the Communications Team and the marketing Team.


The incumbent will include create, edit and produce video and multimedia production promoting XJTLU’s brand both locally and globally, be responsible for archiving the video content and footage in a management system for easy retrieval when needed, to make video content programme which are to be published on the established screen display system across University campus, with the responsibility to coordinating students club and other functional organisation with XJTLU to facilitate the video content production. S/he will also be responsible for managing the video assets, equipment purchasing and maintenance, and photography when needed.


Responsibilities:


Coordinate with the Video and Multimedia Producer and key personnel at UMC to establish objectives and develop an annual plan for video and multimedia communication.


Coordinate the University’s brand strategy into video and multimedia communication through compelling visual stories and innovative visual concepts.


Photograph events as needed (ceremonies, key events, classes, and more).


Arrange, plan and produce video projects that convey XJTLU’s distinctive strengths using creativity, initiative, judgment and technical skill.


Manage multiple projects from beginning to end, develop concepts, research and source original video productions.


Develop treatments, storyboards, scripts and pre-production plans.


Organise shooting schedules with strong attention to detail, be responsible for filming, lighting, sound recording.


Edit visual and audio footage, incorporating music, graphics and post-production techniques to create high quality videos.


Coordinate video productions between UMC and other departments of the University.


Coordinate and collaborate with outside vendors to make sure projects are delivered effectively, on time and at a high quality.


Produce videos to broadcast on the official university website, social platforms and industry associated platforms and video platforms like YouTube, Tencent etc.


Manage the video database and video assets for the University.


Coordinate maintenance of all video equipment and assist in procurement of equipment and accessories as required.


Provide training and manage video project work of interns/trainees and members of the Student Media Centre.


Develop mentor schemes to involve XJTLU students in “crowd-sourcing” content through contests and student-led or faculty-led projects.


Continuously develop professional capabilities by staying current with best practices, new/emerging technologies, and visual media techniques.


Maintain ongoing, positive dialogue during creative development with supervisor and internal customers;


Play a key role in the virtual TV station project team and coordinate between offices and students club for video programme content production.


Qualifications:


Bachelor Degree or above in Communications, Video Production or related disciplines.


2-3 years of experience as a video officer/producer at an agency, production company or video unit within an organisation.


Skills and Knowledge:


High-level understanding of both technical and creative processes for video production.


Demonstrated high-level skills using video production software including: Final Cut Pro, Premiere, EDIUS, AfterEffects etc.


Proactive approach to new creative opportunities and be able to initiate and develop new ideas with the team.


A good understanding of video equipment and the ability to keep on top of new software and hardware developments.


Detail-oriented, well organised and able to prioritise tasks within a deadline.


Good communication in both written and verbal English and Chinese.


Ability to work in a team and individually.


Able to problem solve and think strategically.


Strong attention to detail.
