Job Purpose:

To deliver Violin music lessons according to set time table to students aged 4 to 10. To assist the Head of Music in building up the music program in YCIS Shanghai.

Duties:

• Familiarizing self with the school’s Philosophy and Objectives and deliver the violin lessons to assigned classes and students;
• Responsible for Violin Lessons for ECE and Primary students, including but not limited to violin classes which occurs once a week, and to work together with Chinese Class Teachers to ensure that students continue to practice their violin skills;

- Regularly providing violin instruction to Chinese teachers in order to improve Chinese teachers skills with the violin so that they can help students practice their skills, The instruction for Chinese teacher is a once-a-week violin lesson on a week day from 7:30am to 8:00am;

• Responsible for organizing the Annual Violin Concert of students;
• Participate in school concerts both internally and externally, to prepare students for performance in such concerts, and to work with the schools in external events marketing and promotions;
• Responsible for daily maintenance of school violins, including but not limited to violin tuning, repair, cleaning, and to work with Class Teachers to help students store their violins in a proper manner;
• Work with the music teacher to develop a violin curriculum to train students in their musical ability, and to join the weekly orchestra practice and rehearsal;
  

Skills and Qualifications:

• At least Bachelor’s degree in Music (specialized in Violin), Music Education (Violin);
• Possess a Teaching Certificate of any kind;
• Fluent in conversational English, any certificates of English a plus (CET, TEM, TOEFL, IELTS);
• Experience teaching young students a plus;
• Warm, helpful personality;
