Job Summary
As a Production Manager for Side Shanghai, within the PTW Shanghai facility, you will be responsible for the smooth running of the audio production department, across multiple projects, including everything from indie mobile games to AAA console games, as well as voice production for other tech & digital media, working with a multitude of clients from around the world. You will be responsible for the timely completion of agreed deliverables and milestones, to a very high standard, while keeping to the client’s budget. As an outsourcer, it’s this that brings clients back, and it’s returning clients that keep us successful.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for each project’s full lifecycle: from client requirements, to defining a budget and a timeline, and delivering the project successfully to agreed milestones and quality levels
- Prepare initial dialogue production cost estimates based on the client’s early brief.
- Source and short-list actors to present to the client and/or audition for roles in the game.
- Prepare more detailed cost estimates as the client’s brief expands and early script information becomes available.
- Ensure that the client’s needs are met or rationalise any push backs in a clear and decisive way
- Take the first pass of vendor contracts and talent agreements where necessary, to pick up obvious errors or points for negotiation.
- Prepare a project schedule of actors and their characters to record.
- Negotiate fees with acting agents and other freelancers where necessary.
- Book the actors, directors and required freelancers.
- Prepare recording scripts for actors, directors and studio engineers, along with any other essential assets required for the smooth running of the recording sessions.
- Brief recording studio teams about the production and post production.
- Track the progress of the recording sessions throughout, updating schedules and actor, director and studio bookings.
- Integrate script updates and changes throughout the production and adjust schedules accordingly.
- Track the progress of final audio assets deliverables, by liaising with the company’s audio edit / delivery team.
- Liaise with the client throughout and communicate any problems or issues to line manager or senior management in a timely manner.
- Track all costs throughout.
- Prepare final costs for the client to raise their purchase order.
- Handle all queries and issues arising.
- Where necessary, co-ordinate with other SIDE/PTW offices to establish workflows and agree the best way to deliver for the client
Requirements
- 2 years’ experience in a role requiring a similar overall project management skill set.
- Excellent client facing and internal communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written, in standard Mandarin and English.
- Experienced knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, in particular of Microsoft Excel, ideally comfortable using formulas such as SUMIFS and COUNTIFS to produce stats in relation to dialogue scripts.
- Both a self-starter, able to work alone as and where necessary, and a team player, able to muck in at all levels to get the job done.
- Comfortable both taking instruction from senior members of staff and giving instruction to junior members of staff.
Good-to-Have
- An interest in games and/or games production, making conversing with clients easier and more productive.
- An interest in developments within both the tech / digital media and games industries and the consequential growth of the company in terms of services on offer / lines of business, etc.
- Foreign language skills (esp. English, Japanese, Korean)
