Job Description

Applicants should note that this position is a fixed term local Mercedes-Benz South Africa position and the successful candidate will be employed on a Mercedes-Benz South Africa contract of employment with local conditions of service. Contract Duration 01 February 2020 - 30 November 2021


 

OUTPUTS
- Monitor and ensure all W206 local suppliers can safe guard the supply of parts by guaranteeing the manufacturing and/or assembly process in-line with DIAMLER standards and timelines.

- To Monitor and ensure that W206 suppliers are informed of all aspects (timelines, technical requirements and any other details) required to meet the W206 ramp-up requirements for parts.

- Monitor and ensure tooling availability to manufacture and/or assemble local parts by timeline management and constant reviewing to meet the required W206 quality gates.

- Timeline manage and escalate all aspects influencing part readiness of the suppliers business to ensure readiness in-line with the master W206 plan.

- Constantly meet and project mange the suppliers’ progress cross-functionally to ensure readiness.

- Escalate and ensure corrective actions (contingencies) with the supplier and MBSA management when timelines are not being .met to achieve readiness on time.

- Provide knowledge, support, alignment and coordination to all the suppliers and part readiness teams.

- Provide accurate reports on a daily, weekly and monthly based by supplier per part showing maturity status to meet the W206 milestones for readiness.

- Responsible to ensure all suppliers can supply W206 parts in the correct maturity and available capacity in line with the W206 milestones and implementation plan.

- To assure compliance with S.H.E. requirements in the assigned area of responsibility and perform delegated S.H.E. tasks and duties in own responsibility. Inform superiors about deviations.



REQUIREMENTS
- Good Leadership skills.
- Good Product Knowledge with a Technical background.
- Working Knowledge of the German Language.
- Good IT systems knowledge especially DIALOG, START, MAMS, SAP and all MS office programs.
- Good Communication and project management skills.
- Willingness to work a 3 shift model.
- Ability to perform the minimum required physical and mental requirements of the function.
- Leadership behaviours as per LEAD.

QUALIFICATION
- Minimum NQF 6 – National Diploma in Logistics/Degree Industrial Engineering or relevant equivalent
 
EXPERIENCE
- 3 years practical experience in years practical experience in part and supplier readiness management
- 2 years interacting and managing the supplier base in SA.
- At least 6 months participation in our Graduate Development Programme.
