Summary

Organize and direct activities encompassing warehousing, shipping and receiving, transportation and inventory control. Coordinate these activities to ensure efficient utilization of warehouse, transportation resources and to optimize the flow of finished goods from production to end customer or distributor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily shipping of customer orders to insure accurate and timely delivery to customers. Work with customer service to mutually resolve problems in order to maintain the franchise goal of 98% on-time fulfillment rate (OLFR) globally.
  • Coach and support the ongoing activities of the shipping/receiving areas so that labor and order fulfillment time is optimized.
  • Continue to develop lean leaders and facilitate Kaizen events to make improvements in distribution and warehouse activities.
  • Supervise the daily receiving process to insure accurate and timely receipts. Work with purchasing to mutually resolve problems and improve processes.
  • Administer and oversee the cycle count program so that our inventory record accuracy remains at 98%+.
  • Manage all external and internal Logistics for the company and be the point person for Round Lake transportation group coast saving initiatives and implement programs.  Resolve any workflow or employee issues quickly by facilitating solutions with i.e. HR, Dept. Mgr. and employees.
  • Manage staff resources. Training plans, development plans and planned absence coverage.
  • Cross train plan for employees for unplanned absences ensuring the continuity of service to external and internal customers.
  • Ensure compliance with all procedures, Visual aids and processes.  Improve or re-write as the business requires.  
  • Lead projects for improvement for equipment and processes used in the logistics process.      

Qualifications

  • Ability to lead and manage a diverse workforce accountable for multiple functions.
  • Must possess an above average knowledge and ability in project management.
  • Broad understanding of transportation/warehousing/shipping/receiving.
  • Ability to manage external subcontractors such as 3PL’s, Transportation suppliers and other sub-contractors.

Education and/or Experience

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent required. 5-7 years managing a warehouse in a medical products environment.

  • Periodic lifting of up to 35#’s.
  • Proficient with MS Word and Excel programs.
  • Work with containers of chemicals and bio-hazardous material.
  • Work near open dock doors in all weather conditions.
