Purpose of Role
This central role will be a key part of Mars Pet Nutrition’s Marketing transformation and will be responsible for orchestrating a next-generation digital consumer experience across owned channels for our portfolio of brands in the US and Canada, including PEDIGREE®, IAMS™, CESAR®, TEMPTATIONS™, GREENIES™, ULTRA, CRAVE™, SHEBA®, KARMA and NUTRO™. The Operations Manager will build superior owned-channel capabilities and increase efficacy of owned channels by scaling proven solutions, developing structured test and learns, benchmarking, education and training. The Operations Manager will facilitate the coordination of key stakeholders in agency, brand marketers, vendors and centralized technology teams to deliver advancements in user experience, technology and owned channel analytics/measurement. This role will also be responsible for building best-in-class personalized consumer journeys across brand websites, email marketing and social media.
Principal Accountabilities
- Lead the execution of the portfolio website strategy and own the website transformation roadmap, including managing the replatform/redesign process for all US and Canadian brands.
- Ensure deep understanding of digital audiences and consumer purchase journeys to inform channel optimizations in service of the portfolio strategy and individual brand plans
- Translate Pet Nutrition goals and portfolio owned channel strategies into actionable annual brand-level plans, with recommended tactics grounded in consumer insights and brand communication objectives
- Manage next-gen consumer experience activities for all active brands in Mars Petcare portfolio, including 3P technology integrations, personalization, mutual value/value exchanges, purpose platforms and brand activations across websites, email and social media.
- Manage the portfolio personalization strategy and own the execution of the pet parenthood lifecycle messaging for all brands.
- Ensure deep understanding and management of website tagging, technologies, data collection and measurement strategy/execution in service of the portfolio channel strategies and individual brand needs
- Be a resource for emerging website, SEO, CX and UX trends, and use knowledge to inform transformation roadmap and learning agenda
- Seek ways to increase effectiveness of owned channels through data-informed and best practice optimizations
- Facilitate effective collaboration between Mars centralized technology stakeholders and agency partners to ensure efficient execution of plans
- Partner with digital agency to proactively identify and act on trends in consumer behavior that can inform strategy, content and optimizations
- Partner with Consumer Care team to mine insights from consumer data and roll out solutions to improve the pet parent experience of our brands through owned channels.
- Partner with Martech team to enable personalized consumer experiences through the Mars Pet Nutrition tech stack, by building use cases, integrations and managing data flow to build audiences and activate 1P data.
- Develop robust A/B testing program for continuous optimization, and partner with agencies and brand teams to implement tests, scale proven solutions, and routinely socialize learnings to advance performance and build marketing department capabilities
- Develop and manage brand marketer relationships and forums for consistent communication and education on owned channels
- Monitor KPI benchmarks and provide insights/analysis to help brand teams and key stakeholders understand owned channel performance and progress
Key Functional Skills/Knowledge
- Proven effective owned channel expertise, especially within an agency or multi-brand environment
- Strong communication skills (oral, written, listening). This includes ability to make effective presentations to all levels of management.
- High levels of interpersonal skills specifically in the area of influencing, resolving conflict, and creative problem solving.
- Proficient in managing complex projects. Well organized, good at prioritization, attentive to details.
- Biased toward action. Takes initiative, entrepreneurial, can hit the ground running and move projects forward right from the start.
What are we looking for?
- 5 years’ experience in digital marketing, with at least two years focused on managing strategic cross-channel initiatives
- Advanced skills in the Google suite of tools, including Analytics, Optimize and Tag Manager
- Expertise in technical SEO, the CMS replatforming/redesign process, content marketing, social media, email marketing and website personalization
- The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of prior owned channel experience, preferably within the Consumer Packaged Goods industry and/or at an agency
- Experience partnering directly with brand marketers and/or agencies to advance initiatives
- Experience in direct to consumer eCommerce
- Experience with Acquia/Drupal, Acquia Lift, GA360, Optimize360, Salesforce Marketing Cloud
