Siemens Mobility Welder Trainee Join the growing, diverse and high performing team at our world-class train manufacturing facility in Sacramento, CA. Siemens Mobility, Rolling Stock Division is the North American market leader in the production of passenger locomotives and coaches, and light rail vehicles. As a Welder Trainee you will learn GMAW (MIG) welding in our 12-week program. What you will be doing: · Adhering to curriculum syllabus for 12 weeks · Attend classroom lectures designed to highlight SIEMENS standards for GMAW techniques · Online classes and assessments · Introduction to welding through VR weld machines · Hands on labs for cutting, grinding, and welding · Operate grinders, air chisels and a variety of welding equipment and hand tools. · Welds components in flat, vertical, horizontal and overhead positions. · Fabricate vehicle body parts and brackets out of carbon or stainless steel. · Learn to interpret blueprints, specifications, and diagrams to ensure SIEMENS quality · Analyze plans, drawings, work samples, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of welding assignments/techniques. · Complete SIEMENS weld qualification testing What we would be impressed with: · Have knowledge of welding techniques, tools and equipment. · Use proper safety and protective equipment utilized during welding assignments · Have automotive/mechanical experience. · Prior experience with metal fabrication. · Skills in the fabrication, joining and repair of a variety of metal objects, equipment, fixtures and structures. · Completion of an accredited welder’s training program What you need to be successful: · Excellent attendance and ability to follow a schedule · Basic understanding of the metric system · Basic math skills used in measuring dimensions · High school diploma or equivalent · Basic English skills – ability to read and understand written instructions and effectively communicate verbally What we are offering: · Full time position · Starting pay - $17.00. (plus, shift premium – 10% for 2nd shift, 20% for 3rd Shift) · 11 paid holidays, 18 days PTO · 401K – 6% company match · Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits on Day 1 · Tuition reimbursement Additional Information: · Upon offer of employment, candidates will be subject to a background check and drug screen, as well as Pulmonary Function Test and Respirator Fit Test · Welder Trainees are required to wear a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR), and other required protective equipment. · The physical demands described here are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential job duties: Wear welding PPE 4-6 hours/day: e.g. welding helmet, leather jacket, gloves, safety glasses, ear plugs, steel toe boots Frequently walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb, crawl in tight spaces or balance; talk and hear. Lift and move up to 40 pounds.
