Eaton’s Aerospace sector, Fluid and Electrical Distribution division, is currently seeking a Seals Welding Team Leader to join our team on 1st Shift. This position is based at our Beltsville, MD facility. Position Overview: Performs duties in the areas of planning, controlling and motivating the efforts of Team Members to meet customer requirements/order rates, ensuring that the Lean production process is running as designed, and meeting Safety, Quality, and Delivery, Cost and Inventory goals. The Team Leader regularly uses a process to track and follow-up on assigned tasks. The Team Leader is responsible for directing team members and communicating with other team leads/Front Line Leads across shifts. This position works under the guidance of the Value Stream Manager and Front Line Leader, exercising initiative and independent judgment as needed. In this function you will: Provide technical assistance with: set-up and programming of machines as necessary, use of in-process inspection tools, drawing and work order interpretation Assign work to team utilizing heijunka and other scheduling tools to flow material effectively to forming cells. Lead training of personnel. Help to conduct first piece checks and audit work orders. Lead training of personnel and manage on-the-job training for team members. Support completion of first piece inspection, tooling/machine setup, and provide regular oversight. Investigate production problems to determine cause and resolution. Assist with troubleshooting, testing, and rework as manufacturing issues arise. Working with manufacturing engineering etc. to resolve nonconformances. Drives safety culture through enforcement of safety rules, use of MESH tools and best practices. Ensure team is following environmental, health and safety procedures, including proper personal protection equipment at all times (such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, gloves). Focus on key metrics such as; on-time delivery, through-put, and scrap reduction Maintain equipment and generate maintenance requests as needed Support NADCAP and other quality/customer welding audits. Participate in continuous improvement activities (such as 5S+ or RIE’s) as required. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Minimum High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution Minimum of 3 years experience in manufacturing processes Minimum of 2 years experience in welding sheet metal Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Preferred Qualifications: Previous leadership experience Position Criteria: Has received performing rating-On Target Results & Demonstrating Not on performance management Completed weld cell OJT – including sign-off for automated strip cutoff, shearing, rolling, welding, sanding, mashing, planishing, tumbling. Effective communication skills Ability to work within a team environment Ability and desire to learn and apply lean systems and tools. Ability to read Engineering prints and interpret and carry out a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format Strong analytical skills Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute percentages, area, circumference, and volume; draw and interpret bar graphs Demonstrated proficiency using in-process inspection equipment – such as micrometers, pi tape, calipers etc. Capability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists through communication and teamwork Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures and equipment, OSHA regulations, manufacturing methods, routings, and standards You must be able to lift up to 35 pounds within any given day. The job could require standing on your feet anywhere from 8-10 hours a day. Will require focus evaluations from close proximity and frequent use of hand to eye coordination. Proficiency in MRP Systems such as MfgPro, SAP, or Oracle.
