Job Description

The Whisky Sommelier for Super Crown Deluxe is responsible for managing the Whisky program, assisting to curate a menu and training the team on Whisky and food pairing. This person will work directly with the Owners, Restaurant Managers and Chefs and wine sommelier. He/she should have prior experience in this role, as well as knowledge and firm understanding of Japanese cuisines/beverage. This person may also be tasked with concept development for some forthcoming projects. 

Specific responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of four years of professional hospitality experience
  • Strong sommelier managerial experience including inventory management, forecasting, budget and cost control
  • Certificate as a Whisky expert
  • Experience working in hospitality driven cities in Asia such as Tokyo and Hong Kong – ideally have worked and lived in Japan
  • Excellent ability to train and educate team members in all aspects of whisky, from basics to an expert level
  • Previous responsibility and knowledge in developing menus
  • Ability to provide excellent product knowledge and demonstrate superb selling skills to both local and international guests
  • Professional communication skills and ability to negotiate with suppliers
  • Excellent ability to manage and coach team members, from recruitment, hiring, training and teaching
  • Higher education or Degree in Hospitality Management related course
  • Superior English written and oral communications skills
