Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Hardare Platform Applications Engineer (PAE) within the Wireless Access Networks Division (WAND). The job will be based out of Intel's Kista office, Stockholm, Sweden.

Your main responsibilities will be to support the local customer in their BTS (Base Transceiver Station) development in Radio Access Networks segment. Although the focus of this role is hardware support, the role of a PAE can be multifaceted and you may be expected to undertake other support tasks adjacent to this, so we're looking for someone who is flexible and adaptable.

Ideally the successful candidate would have a working knowledge of some or all of the below.

  • CPU and sub-system architecture fundamentals and performance considerations
  • Ability to review and understand in-house and customer schematics
  • Principles and operation of high-speed interfaces, e.g. DDR, SerDes (Ethernet, PCIe, USB)
  • Familiarity with both Windows and Linux working environments
  • Python scripting for low-level hardware/firmware initialisation and debug
  • Visual Basic (VBA) scripting in Excel
  • Familiarity with tools for PCB layout review (e.g. Cadence Allegro), flash programming (e.g. Dediprog)
  • Debug and Trace, often working with other design teams to debug software and hardware by attaching JTAG based tracing tools. Experience of real world debugging, example GDB, Lauterbach, etc useful.


You will need to work with various development teams to get the help you need with the above.

Customer support is logged and tracked through a ticketing system and the expectation is that you will fully engage with this, manage the criticality of customer issues and make sure you get the help you need to get these resolved in a timely manner.


Qualifications

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate 'hands on' competance in the area of modern high-speed digital design.

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, plus 4 years+ of related work experience, Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, plus 3 years of related experience
  • You must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid passport with the unrestricted ability to travel overseas
  • Happy and able to manage customer relationships
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to collaborate in cross functional teams
