Job Description: As a Wireless System Architect, you will be responsible for driving 5G NR system architecture proposals to customers, defining baseband and radio reference design requirements, design and development, contributing to strategy & successful execution of strategy to fruition, sales and field training/ enablement and demand generation. As part of these responsibilities, you are required to have skills and prior experience in 4G and 5G NR baseband and/or radio system design using FPGAs and DSPs, signal processing expertise and in-depth understanding of 3gpp standards and other industry forums. Also, in this role, you will be responsible to guide & mobilize internal engineering teams and external partner ecosystem on system reference design development on Xilinx technology.
Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Be a trusted advisor to the Xilinx WWG engineering team and drive system architecture proposals, reference designs, design and development methodologies and market technology leadership by steering internal teams and partner ecosystem relationships on timely and successful product execution & launch
- Identify customer system requirements, develop system architecture proposals to help customer differentiate, lower cost, power, and TTM
- Specify product roadmaps & priorities, define system reference design requirement documents, guide/ mobilize/ and work with internal engineering teams and partner ecosystem for timely execution on the product/ solution roadmaps.
- Collaborate with Silicon and Tools marketing teams for alignment and execution on product/ market requirements
- Design and develop and extend system reference designs for customers working with internal engineering teams and applications engineering
- Enable sales and field to drive Xilinx technology adoption for successful execution on business, revenue, and profitability goals
- Drive Communications opportunities globally
o Understanding of customers/markets – Opportunity/Platforms/ Needs
o Gather feedback and data from customers, field and partners for system architecture proposals and strategic planning
o Work with field sales to identify, prioritize, track, qualify, monitor the risk, and support opportunities (design targets)
o Build an effective partner ecosystem to stimulate product/ technology adoption and market leadership
o Enable field Sales to maximize customer facing activities
o Work with Sales and Business team to facilitate response to RFQs/RFPs
Qualifications:
- Minimum BS/MS in EE/CS or Equivalent Technical Degree, Masters desirable
- 10+ years design and development experience in building wireless baseband and/or radio systems using FPGAs at Tier1 system vendors or while supporting T1 system vendors
- Strong understanding of the Mobile Infrastructure technology, 3gpp standards and market – From Customers to Operators to OEMs to Semiconductor Suppliers
- Functional domain expertise in design and development of Wireless Infrastructure oriented Signal Processing – 4G LTE L1, 5G NR L1 PHY, ORAN DU, Digital Front End (Radio), Passive Intermodulation Correction, Analog Front End
- 5G Market and Technology Drivers and Requirements, AAU, Macro, Small Cells, NB-IoT
- Understanding of Wireless Standardization (3GPP/ETSI/ITU/NGMN/IEEE)
- Expertise in FPGA, DSP and ARM Processor SoC programming, MATLAB, C/C++
- Strong presentation & interpersonal skills are essential requirement for this role
- Up to 25% Travel Required (Both Domestic and International)
