Job Description
Position: AP World History Teacher
Location: Shenzhen, China
Start Date: August (Academic Year 2026–2027)
Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and experienced AP World History Teacher to join our secondary school team in Shenzhen. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction aligned with the College Board AP World History curriculum, fostering students’ historical thinking skills, and preparing students for success in the AP examination.
Key Responsibilities
Teach AP World History to high school students (Grades 9–12, depending on timetable)
Design and implement engaging, inquiry-based lessons aligned with AP curriculum standards
Prepare students effectively for the AP World History exam, including DBQs, LEQs, and SAQs
Assess, track, and report student progress using formative and summative assessments
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
Integrate historical thinking skills such as sourcing, contextualization, comparison, and causation
Collaborate with department colleagues on curriculum planning and assessment alignment
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school leadership
Participate in school meetings, professional development, and extracurricular activities as required
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or above in History, Social Studies, Education, or a related field
Valid teaching license/certification (U.S., UK, or equivalent)
AP World History teaching experience strongly preferred
Familiarity with College Board AP standards and assessment formats
Prior experience in international or bilingual schools is an advantage
Strong classroom management and student-centered teaching skills
Excellent communication skills in English (native or near-native proficiency)
Preferred Qualifications
AP College Board training or AP Reader experience
Experience teaching additional humanities subjects (e.g. AP Human Geography, AP U.S. History)
Experience working with ESL/EAL learners
