Job Description

Role Summary
To provide weekend and evening support for the residential team at the college.
To assist Principal in developing Youth Outreach educational programmes based on the mission of UWC.

Main Accountabilities
Residential Support

  • To respond to emergencies.
  • To cover check-in during long weekend and holidays.
  • To organize/ lead activities on weekend nights (Karaoke/ movie nights).
  • To perform late night walks on campus and encourage students who are up late to go to bed.
  • To liaise with the Director of Student Welfare on a weekly basis.

Developing Educational Programmes

  • Producing different educational programmes for both one day and one week focussed on the UWC mission and values.
  • Liaising with different educational experts in developing these programmes including local Principals; EDB and universities.
  • To work with LPCUWC students in the development of these programmes.

Fundraising

  • Work with the Development Office to secure the funding for the educational programmes.

Communication

  • To establish clear communication channels so that work that is being undertaken is shared with the community.

Other Duties

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal.

The college will also be looking to appoint a Youth Welfare Assistant who will also live on campus. The Youth Welfare Assistant will work with the Youth Welfare Coordinator to undertake the duties outlined.

Minimum typical education
Undergraduate.

Minimum typical experience

  • Experience with working with Youth (14-19 years old) either in an education setting or in other youth programmes.
  • Teaching experience (though not essential)
  • Experience of coordinating a range of programmes

  • Strong ability to communicate effectively in both English and Chinese, in person and in writing.
  • Ability to lead and manage external service providers including design agencies and printers.
  • Proactive in suggesting new initiatives and taking ownership for assigned tasks.

  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team and motivate team work.
  • Strong inter-personal skills.
  • Share the vision and values of the UWC movement.
  • Understanding on the development of educational programmes for young people.

This is a new position on campus (which includes accommodation) for an energetic person to develop.
