In this position, you support the eMobility Group with expertise to drive the inverter product project and align all global entities in the development/roll-out of electric trucks. You will lead the development of the electric powertrain (power electronics) that will be integrated into the global eMobility portfolio of Daimler Trucks and Buses.

Responsibilities
- Manage series development of power electronics in cooperation with selected suppliers and ensure availability of suitable components and functions for respective applications.


- Lead inverter development & strategy for NAFTA with global Daimler entities & stakeholders to support eMobility product development & brand growth.


- Responsible for the integration, application and testing of the power electronic within its respective target configuration.


- Conduct trouble shooting & issue tracking for power electronics and e-motor & act as first level support for customer projects.


- Define, prepare & perform system integration testing on test benches & in vehicles where closely work with your colleagues from SW and HW development.


- Responsible for the definition and implementation of HV safety relevant content within the respective power electronics device according to existing standards (LV123) & in alignment with the HV safety responsible engineer.


- Develop, plan & steer the content of component HW validation (DVP&R) according to relevant standards (ISO 16750, LV124).


- Ensure compliance of the power electronics device to EMC requirements.
Conduct benchmarking of power electronics and elaborate product roadmaps for future e-drive platforms considering the truck and bus specific needs.


- Lead efforts with internal/external partners such as colleagues in Europe, Detroit, Japan, and various suppliers. Interface with global engineering teams for system wide project planning & reporting required. 

- Mentor other EMG employees in regional and global organization on power electronics and systems.


- Develop training curriculum for organization to build competency and knowledge of power electronics.


- Ensure product compliance and safety requirements are met/defined in new eMobility market/industry.

- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science from an accredited college/university and 6+ years of related experience; OR applicable Master's degree with 4 years of experience
required

- Experience working with electric and/or hybrid powertrain systems required.


- Understanding of powertrain CAN-based communication systems & protocols, powertrain sensors, diagnostics, and driver interface required.


- Prior experience with low voltage & high voltage measurement systems as well as CAN based measurement tools (e.g. DIADEM, CANape) required.


- Practical knowledge on EMC within high voltage drivetrain applications required.


- You thrive in a dynamic and volatile environment & bring with you a “can-do” attitude to make things happen required.


- Languages: English (fluent) & German (intermediate) preferred; additional language(s) appreciated required.


- Background in hardware development of E/E & high voltage components preferred.


- Familiar with requirements & implications of ISO 26262 to SW development within powertrain preferred.
