Eaton’s expanding eMobility Division is currently seeking a Senior Test Engineer to join our team in Tualatin, OR. This position will work with automotive low voltage and high voltage EV products. Relocation and Sponsorship is not available for this role. We make the electric revolution work. Position Overview: In this role, the Test Engineer is responsible for the execution of product test, data acquisition and the reporting of component performance for eMobility products designed in Tualatin. You will work with the internal product teams and lab systems test engineer to understand testing requirements for various products. You will lead the test system build and validation of the completed test system. You will document the resulting test and train lab technicians to run sample testing during the initial customer sample build phase. In this function you will: Support test system build process for new Eaton Inverter / Power Distribution and other products in development. Support RFQ activities with estimates of manhours and equipment needs for required testing. Confirm with validation engineering the number of samples, fixtures and test wire harnesses needed to complete the requested testing. From the test plan and DVP&R, create detailed test instructions that will direct technicians how to carry out the testing. Work with the lab management to establish a testing schedule for each test request. Review and sign-off test setups prior to the start of testing. This includes checking that equipment used has proper calibration dates. Where there is data out of the acceptance range, lead the analysis to reach a conclusion as to whether there was an actual part failure. Communicate the status of test, including notification of any anomalies and confirmed part failures. Organize, analyze, and summarize testing data to incorporate into test reports. Interface with key stakeholders (Co-located, nationally, and internationally) in program management and engineering to ensure the completion of projects on time and on budget in alignment with programs. Identify risk areas and elevate concerns as appropriate to mitigate the risks. Direct lab technician activities for test setup, execution, and reporting. Ensure that test system designs consider all of Eaton’s electrical safety requirements for users. Proactively implement, promote, and maintain a safe working environment, through diligence in accident prevention, investigation, equipment maintenance and Zero Incident culture enforcement. Maintain a collaborative working relationship with various internal groups (systems, electrical and software engineering, manufacturing, supplier development and quality) and external groups (customers, suppliers, etc). Support, communicate and reinforce the mission, values, and culture of the organization. Apply appropriate Eaton Business System (EBS) processes and problem-solving tools. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Systems Engineering from an accredited institution required. Minimum three (3) years of electrical and software development for test applications, controls, test automation, or test equipment design/development experience in new product development of automotive or industrial, transportation-based products. No relocation benefit is being offered for this role. All candidates considered must live within 50 miles of Tualatin, OR. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Ability to work in the US without immediate or future Visa Sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications: 5 years' experience with controls, software development, test automation, or test equipment design/development preferred Working knowledge of automotive industry preferred. Experience with various software tools (LabVIEW, Python, C compilers, programming environments, programming stations). Working knowledge of automotive and serial data protocols (I2C, SPI, CAN, J1939, LIN) Problem solving skills: RedX, 8D, Fishbone, PDCA, FRACAS. Experience working in a power electronics laboratory building, developing, and testing new products Experience with troubleshooting test equipment and test systems Ability to use CAD program for fixture design and development. Experience developing data acquisition and control systems using National Instruments and MATLAB respectively. iTest/CANape/LabVIEW data acquisition and controls experience a plus Experience writing clear and concise test procedures and SOPs. Excellent communication, collaboration, reporting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
