Position Title: Head of Boarding
Reports to: Deputy Head of School / Principal
Location:Beijing
Type of Position: Full-time, Residential (accommodation provided)

2. Position Summary

The Head of Boarding is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the overall management, strategic direction, and daily operation of the school's boarding houses. This individual will ensure the provision of a safe, secure, positive, and holistic living environment that promotes the well-being, personal development, and academic success of every boarding student. The Head of Boarding will lead, mentor, and manage a team of residential staff to deliver an outstanding boarding experience aligned with the school's mission and values.

3. Key Responsibilities

A. Leadership and Strategic Development

Provide visionary leadership for the boarding program, setting high standards and a clear strategic direction.
Develop and implement boarding policies, procedures, and handbooks in line with best practices and international safeguarding standards.
Manage the boarding budget, resources, and facilities efficiently and effectively.
Act as the primary liaison between the boarding community, school leadership, academic staff, and parents.
B. Student Welfare and Pastoral Care

Foster a warm, inclusive, and supportive 'family' atmosphere within the boarding houses.
Champion the holistic well-being of every boarding student, ensuring their physical, emotional, and mental health needs are met.
Serve as a primary point of contact for student concerns, conflicts, and crises, providing effective guidance and resolution.
Implement and oversee a robust pastoral care system and student leadership program within the boarding community.
C. Staff Management and Development

Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate the team of Housemasters/Housemistresses, Resident Assistants, and support staff.
Lead regular boarding staff meetings and professional development sessions.
Ensure clear communication and a consistent approach to boarding management across all houses.
D. Operations and Safety

Ensure the highest standards of health, safety, security, and cleanliness are maintained across all boarding facilities.
Manage rooming assignments, arrivals, departures, and exeats (weekend leave).
Develop and practice emergency and critical incident response procedures.
Oversee the coordination of weekend and evening activities, trips, and programs.
E. Communication and Community Engagement

Build strong, proactive, and transparent communication with parents/guardians, including regular updates and timely responses to inquiries.
Work collaboratively with academic staff to support students' educational progress and address any concerns.
Promote the boarding program both internally and externally to current and prospective families.
4. Person Specification

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required; a Master’s degree in Education, Leadership, or a related field is preferred.
Significant and proven leadership experience in a boarding school environment.
Extensive experience in pastoral care and student welfare within an international school setting is highly desirable.
Formal training and a thorough, up-to-date understanding of child protection and safeguarding protocols.
