What you will do:

The Legal Director, Power Solutions, China, reporting to the General Counsel – Power Solutions, Asia-Pacific, and with critical input from the Vice President & Global General Counsel, serves as a senior member of the Power Solutions legal team. This position serves as a senior leader on the commercial team with responsibility for all Power Solutions business activities in Asia-Pacific.

How you will do it:
  • Work independently, or with other internal or external resources, to provide all necessary legal support for the Power Solutions business in APAC, including legal risk management/mitigation
  • Act as a strategic advisor and thought leader to the Power Solutions APAC leadership team
  • Review, draft and negotiate various types of sales and license contracts identified by the law department as carrying a high degree of complexity or risk, including but not limited to Joint Development, Licensing Arrangements, Joint Venture Agreements, Manufacturing Agreements, Supply Agreements, Private Public Partnership (P3) Projects, and Technology Integration Contracts
  • Lead and manage labor and employment matters in APAC, together with Human Resources
  • Lead and manage all joint venture relationships in APCA, together with appropriate Commercial stakeholders
  • Lead and manage all manufacturing activity, together with appropriate Manufacturing stakeholders
  • Lead and manage litigation matters and provide dispute avoidance counseling
  • Provide oversight of regulatory matters impacting the business, including trade compliance and product recalls
  • Participate actively in the development and management of a suitable government affairs
  • Work closely with the General Counsel – Power Solutions, Asia-Pacific, to drive development of organizational structure, organizational structures, best business practices, policies and processes (including training and communication) to optimize resource allocation based on company and business needs, efficiency and risk reduction including external providers (outside counsel, legal process outsourcers and other vendors)
  • Responsible for implementing, driving and reporting results and efficiency metrics including budget and cost management for the Power Solutions APAC legal team
  • Develops best business practices, policies and processes (including training and communication) to optimize resource allocation based on company and business needs, efficiency and risk reduction including external providers (outside counsel, legal process outsourcers and other vendors)
  • Ensures that all significant legal matters are addressed effectively and efficiently
  • Actively serves as a leader, positive role model and teacher regarding legal counseling and business skills, and Power Solutions Leader Expectation Model behaviors
  • Identifies and sponsors enterprise-wide initiatives that advance the Company's legal function

Qualifications
What we look for
  • JD Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant legal experience which includes meaningful period of time with either a top law firm, a large corporation, or both, and experience successfully working with senior management
  • Previous experience successfully counseling senior management, along with demonstrated ability to build relationships and positively influence outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience successfully driving process improvements, resource efficiencies and change management in provision of legal services
  • Ability to make solid judgment calls under pressure
  • Extensive experience as a transactional attorney
  • Varied exposure to substantive legal practice areas typically encountered by large public companies
    Excellent communication skills, in both English and Mandarin language
  • Strong team management and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with others in a matrix management structure
  • Ability to translate the strategic goals and objectives into strategies and actioned priorities
  • Exceptional and demonstrated project management skills
  • Proven team player who values collaboration and working with others to achieve organizational and team objectives
