About the Role:


EH&S Specialist:
  • EH&S Professional who is able to develop and implement operational processes that enable the Enterprise to:

  • Identify, assess, manage and control EH&S operational hazards/risks; and relevant costs.

    • An EH&S Specialist may:
    Work in all areas of EH&S and/or
    Work as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more areas of EH&S expertise (Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental and Occupational Health).

    Responsibilities :
    • Perform work in all areas of EH&S and/or work as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more areas of EH&S expertise (Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental and Occupational Health).
    • Respond to direct requests for EH&S information or services.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of functional processes in alignment with global standards, when applicable.
    • Develop and implement operational processes to identify, assess, manage and control EH&S operational hazards/risks; and relevant costs.
    • Plan, develop and deliver training/education on a broad range of EH&S topics relevant to each Associate’s role.
    • Inform Regional Leaders of regional changes/trends/gaps/risks and collaborate with COE Leaders on the path forward.
    • Provide technical expertise to support risk assessments, including selection of appropriate control strategies.
    • Evaluate relevant obligations (legal and other) through gap assessments and the auditing process.
    • Serve as Enterprise point of contact for regulatory agencies/authorities and outside service providers within scope.
    • Identify EH&S opportunities through appropriate data collection and trend analysis.
    • Utilize EH&S work flow and project practices to drive continual improvement.
    • Partner with teams to identify, assess, manage and control EH&S operational hazards/risks, including EH&S risks during the process of innovation/new product development.
    • Maintain and/or enhance EH&S technical competencies through the Performance and Development process.

    Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor degree in Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) or related field (e.g.: Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Public Health, etc.) with appropriate years of experience OR a minimum of 4 years EH&S experience.
    • Previous success working within a diverse team.
    • Demonstrated:
      • Success in identifying, assessing and controlling EH&S risk;
      • Organizational priority-setting skills, attention to detail and follow-through;
      • Understanding of risk management, including tolerable risk vs. compliance; and
      • Understanding of region (country/local) specific regulations.
    • Proven problem solving skills, including incident investigation and root cause analysis.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to:
      • Prepare and submit reports;
      • Work off-shift hours, if needed;
      • Develop and implement practical, effective, and cost sensitive risk-reduction solutions;
      • Drive completion of multiple projects and priorities with competing resource needs;
      • Build consensus and influence with a diverse group of Associates in safe behaviors and practices;
      • Effectively lead yourself and contribute in a team environment;
      • Work within a diverse/cross functional team;
      • Actively engage and partner with manufacturing and technical Associates;
      • Computer skills – knowledge of Microsoft office, etc.; and
      • Travel up to 10%.
    Desired Qualifications:
    • Professional Certification by a recognized entity.
    • Experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
    • Knowledge of:
      • EH&S management systems (ISO14001, 45001).
      • EH&S related consensus standards and industry best practices.
