This role will provide leadership, discipline, coordination, and support in the area of system(s) development, will ensure that the work delivered is impactful, performed in a consistent way, using approved tools and technologies, and following established development methodologies including analysis, development, quality assurance, and support.
Key Accountabilities:
Establish and maintain an inventory of resources and applications
To establish a System Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
Communicate the SDLC and expectations to developers in the region
Establish and promote best practices to ensure that redundant development doesn’t occur
Establish a prioritization process
Ensure that appropriate application support procedures and resources exist for deployed applications
Ensure that code reviews and other Quality Assurance activities occur
Ensure proper documentation and support exist for all solutions
Ensure transparency and strong communication between Development and Regional IS
Ensure that developers are using only Regional IS approved tools and technologies
Ensure that proper licensing is in place for tools and technologies in use
Lead and/or facilitate career development, programs, training and education for our regional technologists
Work closely and frequently with District management and peers
Inspire our people and teams to make a positive difference for Expeditors
Encourage innovation through technology and continuous improvement solutions for our regional team
Bachelor Degree in Computer Sciences and experience with leadership in this field
Ability to lead, manage, coach, develop and execute
Ability to communicate, collaborate and integrate with others
Experience with managing financials
Understanding of Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Ability to work effectively across all levels of development, support, and with peers
Ability to receive and provide constructive feedback on a regular basis
Proficiency in various development languages/tools (Java, VB.Net, Python)
Exposure to and understanding of various database technologies (SQL, Vertica, DB2)
Effective communicator
Additional Information
1. No more than normal physical effort or positional stress required. Intermittent walking, sitting or standing with normal expenditure of energy.
2. No more than occasional exposure to one or more unpleasant or to somewhat hazardous conditions.
3. Extensive travel may be required.
