Job Description

Role Purpose

The Strategic Marketing Director is a senior management position within the Strategy Pillar, reporting to the VP of Strategy. S/He oversees corporate strategy development process, strategic marketing, cell strategy, product marketing, strategic programming, branding, business plan commissioning, marketing research, market intelligences, customer networking, competitive analysis, investment planning and ROI responsibilities on vertical applications.

The Strategic Marketing Director is responsible for developing and implementing product and solutionstrategies for all the product application categories within the 3C, MC and EV product lines. S/He will be responsible for leading the company to make the steps of business processes both on new businesses as well as existing ones.

The position holder is the architecture of the company business models, business partner decisions, global and regional penetration tactics. S/He will also be responsible for driving and executing the yearlycorporate budget in line with the economic model of each geographic region.

The Strategic Marketing Director is the owner/coordinator of the quarterly corporate QBR with the accountabilities to develop the theme and agenda of each meeting that deliver the optimal direction and actions.


Principal Accountabilities and Key Activities

1.Corporate strategy development process

  • Determine the value propositions for each of the applications company serves
  • Analyse and understand the opportunities and threats for company next 3 to 5 years’ business
  • Survey the company core competences and find the next adjacent business; consideration of M&A, invest and partnership opportunities
  • Develop company Brand promises, provide the long term execution plan on the branding deliverables
  • Own the professional network in the industry circle; knowing current and potential competitors as well as partners on the core and possible adjacent business
  • Co-work with Regional Sales to develop the regional market tactics on mid and long term business growth objectives; building the teamwork environment among HQ and regions

2.Strategic and product marketing

  • Strategic Marketing Director is responsible for determining the vertical markets for company; technical knowledge of battery industries to support the application segmentation
  • Make the pricing strategy in line with the company value proposition on each application segment
  • Develop the product roadmap based on market requirements and consolidate with the technology roadmap application by application
  • Owner of the strategic programming process; implement the necessary tools and platforms for gathering the alignment and execution of actions across the entire company
  • Drive the process on competitive bench marking and market intelligence data to update Sales,Technology and the Leadership Team on regular basis

3.Development of business plans across all applications

  • Take a leading role in developing the application business plans; co-ordinate all the pillars and functions to drive the objectives of ROI performance application by application
  • Develop the processes to deliver appropriate field sales enablement tools such as samples, sales kits, brochure, technical data sheets, product introduction presentations…etc.
  • Lead the cross functional teams to deliver new business model concepts, conduct internal/cross functional brainstorming workshops to explore business innovation
  • Network and interface with potential investors, institutions, funding and PE circles for high level business construction opportunities
  • Deliver high quality business plans to the requirements of lobbying external/professional investors
4.Participate in Corporate Development
  • Provide the strategies and intelligences for PLDs to make execution on yearly budgeting and 5 year economic models; a “go to” person for all strategic and competitive issues at company
  • The capable incumbent shall become the owner/coordinator of the Corporate QBR supporting the VP of Strategy in setting the theme and determine the expected deliverables at each QBR
  • The high potential candidate who satisfies all the above mentioned requirements will become a top potential candidate that earmarked as the successor to the VP of Strategy in two years horizon


Essential
  • The successful candidate must be a creative individual with business leadership, mature EQ and strong business acumens and networks
  • Possess top leadership competences, excellentcommunication and presentation skills, able to communicate with C levels in the own and outsideorganisation that inspires commitments
  • Bachelor’s degree from respectable universities in Business studies, engineering or proven professional track records is acceptable
  • 15 or more years’ strategic marketing managementexperience in multinational companies, of which minimum 10 years’ international exposure, in particular working with European, US and Asiancolleagues
  • Technology or engineering related background who understand and experienced the high technology world is essential
  • Possesses knowledge and leading experience ofnew business creation processes from large NMCs; alternatively, solid track record of being an entrepreneur at the high tech industries
  • Able to lead budget processes by economic models for mid and long term horizon
  • Fluent in English and Putonghua, other languages/dialects is a plus
  • Travel of up to 50% is required; willing and able to travel overseas with short notice for business purposes

Desirable

  • Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Words
  • Master degree in marketing or MBA preferred
  • Professional qualification in marketing from global institution on strategy development is highly appreciated
  • Leadership competences, coaching and Lean Six Sigma trainings are pluses
  • Solid experience in analysing and predicting future market and technology trends
