Job Description

Reports to: Senior Manager

Type of position: Full Time

This position is responsible for the successful planning and managing of events and projects to meet the goals, objectives, and mission of PWMA. The Events Manager reports to the Senior Manager and manages both live and digital events (e.g. webinars) for the Association, including but not limited to knowledge briefing sessions, special committee events/forums/luncheons, apprenticeship events, financial seminars, conferences and dinner events.

Responsibilities and Duties include:

• Plan, manage, organize, and coordinate all aspects of events to successfully meet deadlines and objectives

• Collaborate in a team setting and coordinate with PWMA staff in planning and implementation of events

• Develop and manage personnel volunteers, vendors, budgets, purchases, and other resources to ensure successful event implementation

• Promote events to PWMA Members, non-members and target audiences to create the right brand messaging and to meet participation and attendance goals and objectives

• Oversee and manage the firm’s official social media channels (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and assist with preparing marketing materials including presentations, event materials, blog posts and, potentially, multimedia (video) materials

• Oversee and manage the firm’s website and its content; provide administrative support to the website’s maintenance and updates

• Build positive relationships with event participants, committee chairs, partners, and members

• Support event development and funding through sponsorship

• Ensure completion of all related administrative tasks

• Collect data, track feedback from participants, and measure the impact of events

• Evaluate effectiveness of events, planning and management procedures, and identify and recommend improvements

• Provide strategies and vision to improve and grow events as needed

• Manage and support specific initiatives of PWMA such as eLearning Platform, Website Management, etc.

• Answer to and report to the Senior Manager

Required Skills:

• Event Management: Experience in planning and managing events in current role. Strong project management skills with relevant experiences in organizing webinars and digital events; familiarity with organizing online training is a plus

• Planning: a good understanding of aspects of event and festival planning in Hong Kong and a familiarity with the Hong Kong financial industry and video conferencing platforms

• Organization: Ability to set goals and create plans to achieve goals and objectives in a timely manner. Highly organized, detail oriented, able to see ahead, set timelines and milestones

• Management: Able to manage projects, time, personnel, budgets, and other resources to successfully complete tasks and projects

• Communication: Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders, lead and work collectively with event teams

• Implementation: Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task, make appropriate decisions, and complete tasks on time, on budget, and achieve outcomes. Be attentive to details and willing to learn

• Collaboration: Ability to work in a shared responsibility team setting and be accountable to other team members; Responsible, hardworking and able to work independently

• Strategic: ability to plan ahead, troubleshoot, anticipate changes, solve problems, and make decisions to meet goals and objectives

• Social Media Marketing: Experience in social media marketing including the creation of content and strategies, and to ensure that information is up to date and relevant for target audiences

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree

• 5 to 7 years of events planning/management experience in financial services, with experience in social media marketing an advantage

• Knowledge and deep understanding of webinar technology, with 2+ years of experiences in hosting webinar 

• Good command of English and Cantonese; Good Putonghua is an advantage

• Proficiency with MS Office applications

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Pleasant personality, self-motivated, mature and independent

• Well organized and attentive to detail

Compensation package:

  • 5-day work week
  • Monthly Salary: Negotiable
