Purpose of the Position:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the coordination / standardization of logistics activities of all MBUSI/Daimler entities within the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) regions as they relate to transportation of goods and services.

 
 
Essential Functions:  (List all basic responsibilities related to the purpose of the position)
 
• Determine the best transportation mode for each operation, plant, supplier and part.
 
• Work toward continuous improvement to address delivery, quality and cost.
 
• Develop/manage routes/consolidation points with suppliers and carriers.
 
• Prepare the scope of work for bidding transportation and other service.
 
• Work with Daimler Procurement (SC/WTN) to select carrier and help negotiate the best service and cost solution.
 
• Monitor shipments as the production level or mix changes, adjusting when necessary.
 
• Provide and monitor plant budgets for transportation and other logistics services.
 
• Planning and procurement of optimized freight solutions for MBUSI.
 
• Execute the team’s goals and milestones including, but not limited to, re-design of the processes for tender planning and contract management for transportation logistics services.
 
• Responsible for documenting and implementing compliant and efficient processes for planning and procurement of Daimler NAFTA transportation logistics network services in alignment with, but not limited to, Trucks/World Wide Transportation, International Procurement Services, Group Compliance, Legal, Daimler entities in NAFTA regions.
 
• Assist tenders with Daimler entities, including Mexico locations.
 
 
• Provide information about status of project goals and milestones.
 
• Budget preparation and reporting.

 
 
Marginal Functions: (List responsibilities which are not essential, but may be required)
 
• Review second tier transportation moves and incorporate with first tier to gain efficiencies.
 
• Work with other Daimler business units to develop operation logistics synergies that result in an overall Daimler benefit.
 
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
 
• Create management reports as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position.
 
Education:   Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or a related area, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
 
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of work experience in an environment such as Purchasing, Logistics and Transportation.
 
Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc.:
• Must have participated in a project related to supply chain with positive results 
• Experience with data organization, data scrubbing, and data management
• Strong analytical skills
• Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP
 
Preferred Skills:
• Knowledge of transportation logistics processes and concepts
• Knowledge of vehicle manufacturing industry and logistics
• Spanish and or German language skills
