Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Application Technology Researcher, are to: 

 

  • Design, execute and report out results from statistically relevant experiments at laboratory scale;
  • Become literate-to-expert as needed on laboratory equipment and testing devices for evaluation of formulations and other technologies;
  • Develop collaboratively data systems and digital tools to quickly, efficiently and accurately record-store-access-visualize data so predictive models can be built;
  • Maintain and grow as needed the laboratory equipment and instrumentation;
  • Devise and document testing procedures and harmonize this testing with all regions conducting similar works;
  • Interface with Formulation Technology to share results of application-related testing, offer recommendations and structure additional testing;
  • Advocate for the needs of the customer, grower and consumer of applied agricultural products by creating qualifying/validating testing on pipeline products;
  • Build recommendations for mixing/storage/handling/application limitations that are carried to fields for testing and serve as foundational to labeled handling requirements;
  • Consult on concise strategies and develop tactics with clear guidance on priorities to drive the required design of experiments and data generation;
  • Test and examine the technology scouting for application technologies and other concept needs within relevant Research and Development networks;
  • Collaborate with Bayer Crop Science Research and Development (Formulation Technology and Biologics) and the external scientific world to lead the organization out of its "comfort zone" and open a window to new ways of thinking and approaching scientific challenges;
  • Support the application of novel state-of-the-art methods and technologies in pilot projects together with functions from across Research and Development;
  • Realize tangible value creation, ensure communication of learnings and successes and establish the application of such approaches within Research and Development;
  • Contribute to integration of cutting-edge workflows and applications to capture, process, and analyze data to build understanding and recommendations;
  • Maintain a smooth and productive interface to adjacent business and technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Engineering, Chemistry or other related field with at least four years relevant experience or Master’s degree in Agronomy, Engineering, Chemistry or other related field with at least one year of relevant experience or a Doctoral/Terminal degree in Agronomy, Engineering, Chemistry or other related field or non degree with at least 12 years of relevant experience;
  • Good scientific background and working knowledge of the crop protection /biological formulations applied agricultural or related sciences;
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute in an international and dynamic Research and Development team;
  • Excellent laboratory skills and experience with wet techniques and instrumentation;
  • Comfort designing, working with programming and data science experts to build, adopting novel digital tools to record-store-access-visualize data with work streams;
  • Have an appetite to connect to and discuss collaboratively;
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written;
  • Ability to analytically assess and diagnose problems and to structure and simplify complex tasks;
  • Agility to adapt to changes and operate in ambiguity;
  • Out-of-the box mindset to open new routes off the beaten path;
  • Ability to develop, discuss and implement strategies together with managers, commercial sales, marketing and scientists;
  • Sound agricultural knowledge, or the capacity/drive to develop knowledge of application practices in agriculture today and into the future;
  • Experiences and capacity to understand and contribute to advanced technical topics;
  • Ability to understanding of grower’s needs and combine them with opportunities offered by the equipment industry;
  • The ability to incorporate the value of new technologies and relevant legislative changes into the strategy for existing and new products.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Basic skills in other languages (German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, etc.).
