Backend Engineer (m/f/x) - IoT & Industry 4.0 venture

This digital business unit in close partnership with BCG Digital Ventures is currently working on building the leading end to end IoT platform for machine efficiency and equipment effectiveness. This platform will not just completely reshape how companies produce and elevate their efficiency levels, but at the same time fundamentally augment the way how manufacturing employees do their job.

Being one of the first ConsulTech companies, they don’t just want to produce technology and sell it to clients but rather lastingly enable them to improve their processes based on the latest process excellence knowledge in combination with this cutting-edge technology solution. As they envision strong growth, they are looking for a “Backend Engineer (m/f/x)“ to join the ambitious team in Berlin and shape their state-of-the-art solution.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and optimize backend services and systems for our product (based on Java, Spring, Terraform, Python, Postgres, and AWS, Lambda)
• Leverage solid backend programming & architecture skills
• Optimize the infrastructure aspects and implement massive & innovative features in our IoT platform
• Help improve our engineering processes and build valid solutions to live problems
• Close cross-functional collaboration with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Frontend Engineers, and the Product team to build an outstanding product

Key Requirements

• Up to 3 years of backend-centered or fullstack software engineering experience
• Programming skills Java (Sprinboot) and/or Python
• Good experience with or strong interest in cloud infrastructure (AWS, Lambda, ideally Terraform)
• Experience in data-driven architectures, e.g. streaming, service-based, microservices, API,  data pipeline building, etc. is a plus
• Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams in a dynamic & fast-paced environment
• Very good English skills, German or additional European language knowledge is a plus
• Passion for building cloud-native architectures that are scalable and maintainable as well as desire to create solid and scalable products
• Interest in ML, IoT, industrial automation, M2M, connectivity, digital production, smart manufacturing and industry 4.0
