Business Development Manager

 

JOB PURPOSE

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is expected to acquire and develop a high degree of technical knowledge of translation services and products, targeted to companies and to achieve budgeted sales and revenue targets through the identification, lead generation, progression and completion of sales opportunities.

The role is accountable and responsible to generate and growth sales with new and existing clients, and is responsible for the relationships and management of existing and potential customers.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To maintain and grow a substantial base of existing clients.
  • To identify and generate sales opportunities in the assigned regions to reach and exceeds sales targets.
  • To call on and close sales with new and existing customers through prospection, client referrals, tradeshows and direct marketing activities.
  • To prepare and arrange presentations to target customers and to demonstrate to prospects the value of LS offering.
  • To manage and secure that new business opportunities are identified, tracked and closed in a timely manner.
  • To develop a thorough understanding and commercial awareness of the marketplace including customer needs in the asignated territory.
  • To attend industry conferences and networking events to generate leads and promote SDL.
  • To generate revenue through the development of new business relationships and through the development of relationships with existing businesses.
  • To work in conjunction with other LS sales reps in the US and EMEA to leverage global business opportunities.
  • To provide regular, timely and accurate prospecting activity and sales reports, sales forecasts and to keep accurate pipeline records.
  • To report on competitive activities and trends, industry trends and pricing.
  • To monitor and ensure overall client satisfaction with services and products provided.
  • To work closely with Sales, Operations, Technology, Business Implementation, Vendor Management, Marketing and Bid Management in the development and implementation of prospects and new clients.
  • To work closely with production team to prepare quotations and in early stages of project preparation to ensure smooth hands off.
  • To develop targeted sales material coordinated with the Marketing Manager.
  • To plan, organize and oversee sales-related marketing activities and events to generate company awareness and sales opportunities.
     

QUALIFICATION
 

  • BA is preferred although equivalent qualification will be considered.
  • Fluent in English with native Chinese

SKILLS

  • A successful experience in selling technology products or multilingual solutions would be a distinct advantage.
  • Knowledge of the linguistic industry including technical skills around translation memory tools and terminology glossary management would be a distinct advantage.
  • Resourcefulness, sales skills and the ability to coordinate activities across company functions.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills as well as effective human relations skills and proactive approach to the sales process.
  • Excellent in-person and phone-based presentation skills.
  • Eager to learn and win new Sales in the Translation industry
