Computer Technician II(s)
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, working with more than 150 ophthalmologists and visual scientists in Hong Kong and Mainland China, is committed to advancing patient services, research, training and education to the highest possible standard in all major areas of ophthalmology and visual sciences. The Department has a strong track record and profile in international ophthalmology, and is dedicated to worthwhile community programmes and public education projects. The appointee(s) will be responsible for (a) developing and implementing IT projects; (b) maintaining existing hardware and software systems, as well as assisting in the development of new applications; (c) providing end-user support to in-house applications and office automation; (d) designing and updating web pages; and (e) performing other tasks as assigned.

Applicants should have (i) a Higher Diploma or above in Computer Science, Information Technology or related disciplines from a recognised university or a technical institute; (ii) experience in network devices setup, web server administration, PC/server hardware and software application support and vendor management; (iii) familiarity with Firewall, VPN, VLAN, WAN/LAN, Switch, VC, Wireless router/AP, MS Windows XP/7/8/8.1, Mac OS, Linus, MS Hyper-V virtualisation Technology, Windows Server 2008 or above, VMWare, Symantec Endpoint Protection, NAS, MS Exchange Server, MS IIS/Microsoft.NET Technologies/MYSQL; (iv) sound knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, LDAP, DNS, SENDMAIL and POP; (v) profound knowledge of programming languages, such as C#, JavaScript, ASP.NET, Java, HTML and PHP; (vi) trouble-shooting and project management skills; and (vii) a good command of spoken and written English. At least 1 to 2 years’ relevant work experience and immediate availability are preferred.

Appointment will initially be made on a 1- or 2-year contract (with contract-end gratuity for a 2-year contract), renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
