Your Role and Responsibilities

Working as part of IBM’s Cloud Business Unit, this is a Specialist Software Sales role to promote IBM’s Data Science & Artificial Intelligence software capabilities with our Enterprise customers.  The role is specifically working with clients who may have a more limited IBM software footprint – our Strategic Accounts - hence the focus and reward is very much on new business acquisition – hunting, rather than farming. 

You will support IBM by enabling customers to define, develop, and deploy their next-generation AI strategy.  You’ll be responsible for building strategic relationships with executives and key decision makers in our clients to promote our portfolio of Data Science & AI solutions. These offerings allow our clients to empower their organisations with data, by providing their business users, analysts and data scientists the tools  and capabilities to understand and analyse data, visualise information, predict business outcomes and automate models using machine learning.

Primary job responsibilities
• Prospect for new client engagement & opportunity development
• Leverage the wider sales IBM team (for example IBM Client Executives and other specialist sellers) to plan the overall Data Science & AI strategy within a set of defined accounts
• Manage all aspects of a sales cycle from opportunity identification, through to the negotiation and closure of contracts
• Gain the trust of senior IT and business executives within named accounts and foster long-term partnerships
• Be proactive with our clients to ensure that the IBM Data Science & AI capabilities become the first choice for our strategic customers

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Extensive experience in a enterprise sales role
  • Experience focused on Predictive Analytics / Data Science / AI sales
  • A background in consultative customer engagement with an Analytics Software provider or on the sales team of an Analytics reseller
  • Strong knowledge & expertise in Data Management & Governance
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to executives and senior executives
  • Ability to sell solutions in a multiproduct environment, On-premise & SaaS
  • Proven ability to work with global cross-functional teams and achieve success for customers
  • Balance of strategic and tactical skills
  • Solution selling approach, Business case, ROI etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of an industry or industries
