Within the Global Biopharmaceuticals Commercial Team and reporting to the Head of Early Commercial and Partnering, you will be the Director, Partnering & Commercial Evaluations.

This is an exciting new role to work at the heart of the global AZ commercial organization as part of the wider Franchise team that manages the newly launched brands and brings forwards the next wave of new medicines.

The successful individual will demonstrate strong skills in the areas of leadership, strategic thinking, decision-making, influence, problem solving and collaboration at both the global and country level.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

As Director, Partnering & Commercial Evaluations you will be accountable for:

  • Generating commercial assessments for inlicensing opportunities for our early Respiratory and Immunology portfolios. This includes assets from early Discovery through to the Phase 3 decision gate.
  • Building a track record of success in identifying potential inlicensing opportunities with the intention of bringing new pipeline medicines to AZ.
  • Working closely with business development colleagues to provide the commercial perspective to advance negotiations with partner companies and other organisations such as technology platform owners and academic institutions. The role will need to generate a commercial assessment and revenue forecasts for potential pipeline assets in the key markets of US, Europe, Japan and China.
  • Working alongside R&D and marketing colleagues to build differentiation and commercial positioning for potential inlicensing assets.
  • Representing AZ commercial at negotiations with partner companies.
  • Leading the commercial assessment for some internal pipeline assets, in addition to inlicensing assets.
  • Driving ambitious life cycle management opportunities for pipeline assets.
  • Engaging with senior stakeholders to align them with our recommendations.
  • International travel will be required to successfully undertake the role.

Experience:

  • Strategy consulting experience OR Pharmaceutical commercial experience.
  • Hands-on ability to generate commercial assessments, sales forecasts and business cases.
  • Track record of effective engagement with senior decision-makers.
  • Business development experience is helpful but not required.

Education:

  • Degree in any discipline.
  • Advanced degree (MD, PhD, or MBA) preferred.
