Reports to Sr. Director, TPX Business Operations and Head of Business Technology Office (BTO) The Opportunity Work closely with the Head of TPX Business Operations and Business Technology Office to lead Business Operations for the Technology Platforms & Experiences (TPX) organization and the leadership team. This position will partner with the Sr. Director, TPX Business Operations to lead the TPX operating rhythms, and liaise with the Domain Business Operations leaders on all aspects of day to day business operations, including: workforce management, financial governance, investment decisioning, program management, communications, stakeholder engagement and employee engagement.

The Director of TPX Business Operations promotes solid execution and fact-based decision-making across the organization; acting as the ‘connective tissue’ that links all aspects of the organization seamlessly. The TPX organization designs, builds and operates the technology foundation of the company, including core infrastructure, security architecture, engineering & operations, site reliability engineering, corporate IT, developer tools and frameworks, and company architecture and future technology innovation.  The Director of TPX Business Operations will ensure our operating model, OKR’s, investment plan and portfolio are designed and implemented to deliver against the defined strategy.  

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Operating rhythms and routines: Manage operating routines that facilitate decision-making, autonomy, leadership alignment, and team engagement, inclusive of staff meetings, operational reviews, leadership off sites, All Hands, etc. Set the agenda, participate in the meetings, document decisions, and communicate outcomes.
  • Innovative process improvement and effectiveness: Identifying gaps or improvements, designing proposed changes, socializing with leadership, and developing policies and/or processes necessary to implement decisions made by the leadership team.
  • Special project planning and execution: Serve as on-the-ground execution for a wide variety of cross-functional projects for the TPX leadership team.  Ability to navigate internal networks and build internal consensus is important.
  • Leadership extension to TPX BizOps community: Act as an extension to the Head of TPX Business Operations in managing relationships with the Domain Business Operations leaders. Ensure bi-directional accountability on driving closure on requests and activities across the Business Operations scope: communications, finance and budget management, workforce management, vendor management, training and development, engagement and culture, and events management.
  • Strategic thinker: Bring outside-in thinking to the organization, highlighting industry trends that should be considered and evaluated.
  • Organizational alignment across BTO: Ensure leadership alignment across the Business Technology Office leadership team including: Culture and Engagement, Technology Insights, Technology Risk Management, Strategic Initiative Management Office, Planning and Portfolio Management, Technology Business Management, IT Service Management, and Business Operations.
  • Outcome and metrics tracking/reporting: Work closely with leaders across the organization to develop goals and Objectives and Key Results; develop systems for managing performance against those goals. Ensure that our key efforts and initiatives are aligned to our strategic priorities.

Candidate

The ideal candidate has proven experience working closely with executives, in a fast-paced environment; applying strong consultative skills, including business acumen, customer empathy, and the ability to influence and partner. This person thrives in a dynamic, global, fluid, matrix environment and is results-focused.  Is comfortable leading from both the front and the rear, as situations dictate. History in communications, business & strategy development preferred.
