Job Description

Applied Materials is seeking an experienced Electroplating Process Engineer, who has experience and expertise in electroplating and electroless processes. Successful candidates must demonstrate a balanced and in-depth understanding of chemistry required to achieve leading edge process performance. The preferred candidate is highly motivated with an excellent track record of performance and innovation, in the semiconductor arena, as well as passionate about developing and producing best in class products.

Responsibility:

  • Develop and Troubleshoot electrochemical processes
  • Works with suppliers to develop and qualify leading edge process chemistries.
  • Interact with procurement to determine plans for electrochemical requirements and workflow
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action in electrochemical areas
  • Perform electrochemical analysis; make recommendations for changes
  • Analyze data from production and engineering process runs, qualifying changes or additions to manufacturing toolsets and process flows.
  • Design and execute engineering experiments to either resolve process excursions or to drive process performance improvements.
  • Demonstrate a disciplined use of statistical methods to establish robust process controls and healthy process capabilities, analyze process yield, and perform experimental design and analysis.
  • Keen attention to details, with a conscious focus towards efficiency and convergence via methodologies, standardization, and proliferation of best practices across products and product segments

Skills:

  • Knowledge of electroplating chemistry systems including additive types and functionality
  • Experience working with various plating chemistries on electronic or semiconductor based wafer manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated experience setting up and sustaining electrochemistry equipment, processes, and various metrology methods associated with the control and monitor of such processes
  • Hands-on experience with process, chemistry for advanced electrochemical processes.
  • Willingness to take responsibility and ownership to aggressively focus on problems either individually or part of a larger team.
  • Problem solving with sound logical thinking and analysis
  • Experience with statistical analysis and DOE techniques
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

Qualifications:

  • PhD preferred, in related fields of Electrochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent background in electroplating chemistry
  • 5+ of related experience in process development in a electroplating applications or semiconductors
  • Extensive understanding of plating chemistry and additive systems
  • Extensive understanding of chemical analysis methods
  • Minimum 5 years’ industry experience electroplating applications or semiconductor industry
