We have several outstanding opportunities to undertake a challenging role in a sterile manufacturing facility at our Macclesfield campus. The site supplies products for most of the AstraZeneca therapy areas to global markets and thus has great development opportunities.

You will be aligned to an area which is benefiting from large investment and the role is an excellent opportunity to experience this unique fast paced and dynamic environment whilst ensuring production levels meet given demands in a period of change.

As an Engineering Technician you will deliver and sustain business objectives through providing engineering (Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation) expertise to maintain equipment / systems, resolving problems and implementing improvements whilst being in compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) and Financial requirements.

Responsibilities:

You'll be responsible for maintaining a Syringe Fill and Assembly line, located in an aseptic area. This will be in accordance with maintenance strategies and schedules of work. As stated, the manufacturing process takes place in a controlled aseptic environment, which adds complexity to the maintenance programme of work.

Core plant systems include; Syringe Assembly, Labelling systems, Printing Systems, Sealing, Vison systems, Conveyor and Transport Systems, Check Weighing systems and Environmental Monitoring Systems.

We'll expect you to provide timely response to breakdowns, fault-finding and problem solving.

You'll set up systems / equipment to ensure they align with Operational Qualification parameters and statutory requirements.

We will ask you to lead formal and informal training of less experienced Technicians and coach and mentor Operators to improve equipment performance.

Using lean and manufacturing tools (such as RCM, RCA and CBM) you will actively participate in and deliver continuous improvement activities and projects.

You will work with project teams to bring new equipment from inception through to beneficial operation.

Working within a highly compliant and regulated industry you will ensure that GMP, and SHE regulations are adhered to at all times.

Essential Requirements:

  • Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent
  • ONC/HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering field
  • Experience in Electrical, Mechanical and Instrumentation subject areas (Maintenance and Fault Finding)

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience of working with automated machinery
  • Operating knowledge of procedures and compliance with GMP & SHE requirements
  • Familiar with CMMS (SAP PM) Knowledge of IT systems where appropriate e.g. Drawing/Document Management Systems, Microsoft office, Building Management Systems, PCs, PLCs
  • Knowledge of Reliability Centred Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis and of Continuous Improvement
  • Knowledge of Project / Change management

Some shift work will be involved which will be discussed in more detail at interview

Please note that this role is internally aligned to SA91 Grade 9
