Key attributes:

  • Position reports to Vice President – Global Business Development, Energy & Chemicals
  • Regional coverage will include the relevant countries across Asia with a heightened focus on China, Japan, S. Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia.
  • Position will be based out of an existing IHSM Asia office, however, has the ability to work remote as agreed.
  • Broad knowledge of the market dynamics and competitive landscape in the downstream sector (refining, chemicals, chemical feedstocks) in Asia-Pacific markets is strongly preferred.
  • Able to engage with a broad range of client industries including chemicals, refining and midstream, logistics, engineering, trading, and financial and other support services.
  • Requires an ability to build and nourish relationships with key industry contacts across a broad spectrum that utilize or could benefit from IHS Markit services and/or provide key inputs to support IHSM objectives and key initiatives.
  • Internally, the position requires a collaborative and team approach and leadership through influence and experience.
  • External title: Vice President

General responsibilities and descriptions of key tasks:

  • Work with existing and new clients to develop and strengthen business relationships at the executive level, and ensure a full understanding of the depth and breadth of IHS Markit offerings for the Energy and Chemical Industries.
  • Work in parallel with regional sales to drive growth (in subscription & consulting) and strengthen retention at major strategic accounts.
  • Support regional growth team initiatives (new business) for energy & chemicals.
  • Develop/solidify/expand executive relationships at identified key accounts.
  • Manage relationships with identified key industry associations. Find areas for cooperation that provides opportunities to showcase IHSM capabilities to member companies and/or work that can support association efforts directly.
  • Support and contribute to Thought-Leadership within energy and chemicals, supporting key initiative in sales, marketing and events.
  • Manager for the Business Development Team Sr. Analyst based in Shanghai office.

Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, engineering or industry-related fields required.
  • Twenty (20) or more years of relevant industry experience.
  • Deep experience in chemical markets with relevant knowledge of energy, feedstocks and related industries.
  • A good understanding of how natural resources, geo-politics, the economy influence regional and global chemical and energy markets.
  • Highly organized and creative with accomplished time management skills.
  • Strong knowledge and proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite of business tools.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Experience in developing relationships with executive level contacts at customer companies
  • Proficient public speaker.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluency in Mandarin is strongly desired
  • Ability to cooperatively work across the organization at multi levels to efficiently and effectively utilize the resources and knowledge base available in a team appro
